Did Sprint fix problems with the original Nexus S

Like the poor camera, lack of microSD card slot and lack of 720p. They fixed the lack of 4G, obviously. A notification light, and a dedicated camera button as well would compel to upgrade from my EPIC.

No notification light (at least not stock... see THIS), MicroSD card or dedicated camera button to my knowledge.

Camera is likely firmware related so I can't comment.

I think I saw something on XDA mentioning 720+ video recording but threads just blend together at that point. Don't quote me for sure on that.

I played with the original Nexus S at Best Buy, and I was shocked to discover that it didn't have 720p video recording nor a microSD card slot. Those are my two biggest gripes about the Nexus S. Android is about freedom, and that includes not being limited in your storage space and swapping SD cards with different stuff stored on them. The lack of HSPA+ doesn't matter since Sprint corrected that problem on their version with Sprint's WiMax.

The notification light and dedicated camera button are the least important factors on my list of gripes with this phone, but they're still negatives to me nonetheless. I'm just shocked at Google limiting what is supposed to be the flagship Android phone.

Guess you won't be getting the S then. IMO, this is just the benefit of Android, that is, we have OPTIONS.

If it doesn't have the options you want then you get something else. :)

16gb of internal storage is more than i (as well as 90% of consumers) will ever need. Also, recording in 720p will obviously make the file very large meaning you wont be able to send in an email or message and would have to sync to your computer anyways...

Guys, please be respectful when replying. I hope that's clear enough.

In fact, those are interesting concerns and many users probably care. I know I would if I was in the market for a new phone.

Seriously...those are things A LOT of people look for in a phone. It's 2011, and IMO a micro SD card slot should be present on a flagship phone, as well as the ability to record in 720p, especially when we have phones coming to market that record in 1080p. Indeed your entitled to your opinion, however like I said a lot of users (including myself) look for those things in a device.

I don't see the NS4G as a Flagship phone. It's just another 4g phone.
The EVO 3D will be the Flagship phone for the next year. I got the EVO because I'm skipping v2 of the EVO and wanted something slimmer with 4g.

Exactly and they are designed to Google's specs. Optimized software for the hardware built in. That's how they've done it all along.

In case you havent noticed, mobile devices are moving towards cloud storage. Expect to see less and less onboard storage. What are you going to do with a 1080 video? it will be far too big to send. If you are going to load it on to your computer or TV, why not just use a real video camera instead of a PHONE? People who expect their PHONES to do everything but cook them dinner are just plain ridiculous IMO.

Please attack issues and not people.

Takes all kinds to make up the world, one man's meat is another's poison.

As the digital content delivery moves forward, with HDMI, MHL and DLNA output, it's easy to see how many people on a budget could use their Android device as a media fusion center and then stream content to their TVs.

Why not?

Android is about choice. ;)

Why is someone who owns a Thunderbolt coming into the Nexus S 4G forum to stir stuff up? Might want to keep an eye on that.

You guys really need to watch people more closely. This guy owns a THUNDERBOLT! Whats he doing trolling in the NEXUS S 4G forum? There is zero excuse for that.

He has as much right to ask questions and questions as anybody - just like you did in the Evo forum when posting about the Nexus.

It's not trolling, there was no ranting, it was expressing an opinion.

You know - people often do that because they're often free to change their minds - along with their carriers and phones - and rather prefer to engage with current device owners.

And as I've said before - you have a complaint that someone is trolling, you !Report it next to the post in question - you don't attack that person in public, because you might be wrong.

The posts here will stand as they are.

Lmaooo...Seriously? Stir things up? I won't even go there with you, as EarlyMon has already answered that question for you.

However, there are plenty of us on the Forums that follow a larger scale of the mobile/tech world besides just one particular phone. Just because I own a Thunderbolt doesn't mean I don't follow the rest of what's going on in the tech world. Ease up on attacking members like EarlyMon said, its not cool at all man. For the most part a lot of us are cool with eachother in here...

Just ordered my Nexus and can't wait to get it. I only had a 16GB card on my EVO, so storage is not an issue. The only thing I am going to miss is the notification light. I have to keep turning my phone on just to see if I have a missed call, email, or text.I'm running Cyanogen and I don't think it recorded at 720P anyway so I wont miss that either. Can't believe it doesn't have one.

As has been mentioned, there are kernels with BLN (backlight notification) and possibly a market app that also does it. You can get notification lights on your Nexus S!

I just put my order in through Studentrate. I had to call Sprint twice to get them to give me the upgrade early, since I'm a silver premiere member. The first time I called was in March, and I was told I could upgrade in June (at the time I wasn't sure if I wanted the Nexus S or the EVO 3D). Called again today and asked really nicely if they could bump my date so I could order the Nexus S now. The guy was super helpful but finally told me I had to wait till June 1st. I thanked him for this time and hung up, then about 40 minutes later got a text saying my full upgrade was currently available.

Now, I won't have another full upgrade for two years, but I knew that going in. I know a lot of people complain about Sprint customer service, but I've dealt with all the mobile companies and so far Sprint has been the most helpful.

Yeah I know its been mentioned but I thought it was an app that makes a pixel blink, and thats not the same thing or something I want. I also had a good experience with sprint. They removed my yearly upgrade in april so I called them and asked them to add it back and they did, no issues, no problems, and ordered my phone all in one call.

Well, the Nexus S has no LED light for notifications, so you have to use BLN to get a notification light. Personally, I prefer BLN because in theory you could have it blink in different spots and in different colors for different notifications. On my EVO, I could have my LED flash green or yellow. And considering I used regular text messaging, Google Voice text messaging, GMail, and apps with notifications, two colors didn't cut it.

on my EVO, i record with h.264 instead of the 720p anyways. seems smoother and not that much different quality wise. my understanding is the nexus s has h.264, so that should be good enough i hope.
