I thought it would be interesting, now that we've all gotten to know our Thunderbolts or so we think, to start a did you know type thing, just to share new discoveries. It may even teach the (as they say newbies) a thing or two and the not so tech and or android savvy consumer as well. Here is something I found out just today. Some of you may already know, here we go. I've had my device since 3/17/2011, you can say the retail birth date of the Thunderbolt. I just found out that you can save battery by putting on airplane mode when you have weak and or no cell phone reception or signal. Of course that is common knowledge but at the same time you can still use all data capabilities, listen to music, watch videos and or movies, and send and or receive emails via Wi-Fi. Meaning that you can run your wi-fi and airplane mode simultaneously and save tremendous battery more so when you have bad cell signal. Just as searching for 3g and or 4g wears on the battery so does searching for an actual cell tower signal. Could explain why I've read people say they wake up and their battery is either dead or dying. As far as texts and calls- no- not in airplane mode. Once switching off if u have signal, any call or text made or sent to you should be waiting in Notifications. Calls perhaps in a Voice mail. Rather long but hopefully helpful. Please share your discoveries using this device, which just barely turned 4months old.
