Root Did Z4 Root work for you after 2.3.340 ?

Which version did you use and did you have to do the usb on /off thing?

I didn't have to turn it on/off. I don't know of another place to download it....it probably isn't kosher for me to post it here or I would. Create a new registration...

It was really easy.

Ok, I reregistered and got SuperOneClick, but so far it locks on "running rageagainstthecage".

Another sidenote: I just noticed, I no longer get the bug icon on my bar when USB debugging is enabled and a cord is plugged in.

I tried a temporary root. It said it was successful, but I still didn't have any root access. When I went back into the app it didn't give me the option to unroot so I tapped perm root. Still no luck. I give up for now. At least until someone comes back with a definitive way to root this build

I updated ota to .340 then opened z4root unplugged. I hit perm root it stuck for like 1 minute did a battery pull then re rooted and it took all of 10 to 15 seconds to root my droid x, I am now rooted and running Apex 1.3 awesome.

Why does it work for so many? Lol I feel like im doug something wring but I've done every combination and all suggestions. Next step is to sbf the phone and try it from scratch. The .340 sbf is out right?

I'm trying to use RSD Lite. to flash the SBF. I believe I have the correct file. It says SAHO_X6_2.3.4_SYSTEM-ONLY.sbf. Can anyone confirm? Also, when I try to run it it says chipset type 50 not supported and fails to install. Any ideas?

Fresh restore from settings or sbf? I also have super user stuck in system apps and cannot get root to work

I finally got it to work. How? Full restore from settings did NOT do the job. I reflashed with the .32 SBF to clear reset my entire DX and then upgraded to .340. z4root worked perfectly then.

I'm wondering if everyone who had problems with root used a different version to root on .32 and then tried using z4root on .34. That was my unfortunate experience anyway. On the bright side, my Droid X is now completely fresh (newest OS, newest bootloader, newest baseband, and now newest kernel). The little guy is 'handling' like a dream now. Let me tell you: the forums were indispensable in helping to solve my problems. Many thanks to TBH for source files.

Ah, you are having the same issues that I read about elsewhere. First thing first, get the OTA version of .32 and use RSL Lite to flash the SBF from boot loader. AFTER that, use the system only .340 sbf to get you to the official OTA Verizon release.

These instructions here were FANTASTIC. Many thanks to MCP770!

OK. How did you do this? I'm having the issue I put in my post right above yours. Could you provide me with a link to the sbf you used? I may have the wrong one or something...

Tried it and still get this...

Newest build of RSD Lite

ekyle, you are still trying to flash to the 2.3.340 system only sbf. That won't work at your current state. Instead, you need to use the OTA 2.3.32 SBF. I found it here and used the mirror one download site. After you flash your DX using RSD Lite version 4.8, THEN you can go about using the system only SBF for 2.3.340 to upgrade to the current/official release. Let us know how it works out. As you seem to know how to get your phone into boot loader mode, it should be cake for you. Just follow the instructions that MCP770 posted EXACTLY.

Alright. So I'll flash the one in the link you sent me then I'll flash the one I have... Downloading now

Exactly. In fact, this thread mentions the same issue problem you have and how easy it was to resolve it. Huge download though, eh?

Same error when using that SBF file... hmm.... The world doesn't want me to root this thing lol

EDIT: I noobed out for a second there and realized I'm not using 4.8... lolz It's working now

Don't feel too bad. It took me the better part of Saturday night and Sunday morning to get my DX back up to snuff.

Alright, almost done with the flash of .340. Before I even activate the phone I'm going to install z4flash 1.3.0 from the card and try to root it
