I own 2 Esteems and have run every ROM known to man, flashed anything available, and have always been able to get this phone up and running . . . . until now. I have scoured the forums and found a few others that sound like they have the same symptoms, not sure though. Was flashing Broken out Esteem 1.1, which I have done numerous times, and this is what happened.
What is happening: Hit power button, LG logo comes up for 8 seconds, screen flashes to what looks like the beginning of boot "small light which begins to surround the LG symbol, then the small light freezes on the logo". Freezes for 6 seconds, screen goes dark, phone vibrates and starts again. Will do this for hours if I dont pull the battery. Hold volume and power, power button 3X, android comes up as though it is updating, status bar never progresses, about 3 seconds later goes back into loop. This phone was rooted and had CWM installed.
Things I have tried:
Flashed a couple of different ROMS using CWM, would have liked to try more, yet did the following.
Using LGNPST flashed to ZVB, then updated through LG Mobile Support Tool to ZVD. Now I no longer have access to Clockwork Recovery. Appears to have taken the phone back to stock. No further access to Clockwork Recovery.
LG Mobile Support Tool - tried to run update, tells me that I am updated to ZVD and no update available. Used the Recovery option. Runs through the ZVD recovery, gets to 99% and tries to restart the phone. Phone goes into the same loop described and does not allow the update to continue.
Tried to load drivers through my PC, yet my PC doesnt recognize the phone, because everytime the phone tries to boot, it begins the loop. Through the Device Manager the "unknown device" appears, and then disappears when the phone vibrates and starts looping again.
Hold volume and power - can hold it down for ever and never goes into any type of recovery mode.
Found another option in the forums: hold volume + power, insert battery, and plug in the USB adapter. Does not go into recovery, just shows the battery as charging.
I dont believe I can load any of the Recovery options, since the phone is not recognized long enough on my PC to do anything.
My last hope was to try the Emergency Phone Book Recovery. Sadly many of the links for this phone, such as gbiggies links, are old Dropbox links which are dead and no longer available. Many ditching the phone, but I am still happy with it.
I am a glutton for punishment, have spent hours upon hours trying to fix this phone. Just cant stand that it is beating me like this. It has become principle now, could get another phone, but that isnt the question.
Is it possible in this scenario to load anything through the PC with the symptoms prescribed? LG Tool and LGNPST both identify the phone attached and connected. Anyway to load a ROM (other than ZVB or D, since it has been tried) through LGNPST or LG Tool? Load Clockwork Mod onto an SD card to somehow install on this phone through desktop software?
Thought I would ask the professionals, to any that are left on the forum.
