Root differance in basebands versions

hey guys

can anyone tell me how i can determine if im on the rite baseband for the ics rom,

i get fairly good battery time but iv noticed that quite a few people are on a different version

im currently on 12.56.60.25p_26.10.04.03_m

but i see others on 12.62.60.27p_26.13.04.19_m

im not really sure wot all this means,

would anyone mine educating me :D
 
I believe (from memory) that the baseband is the radio.

It is possible to flash a new radio, but is not necessary. I haven't changed my radio from the stock Orange radio that the phone came with (and I've been rooted since April last year) and have tried several different ROM's and not had a real problem.

If a ROM dev recommends a specific radio for their ROM, they usually specify it in the thread that you get the ROM from. Radios can mean better reception/wifi/3g performance. By all accounts, they are not difficult to flash, but care must be taken when flashing them, as a bad radio flash can brick your device.

If you would like more info on flashing radios, I'm sure I can find it for you... as I said, it's not difficult... you just have to be careful.
 
cheers guys for the reply, i think ill leave it as is then, not really had a problem with it TBH, was just more curiosity more than anything else,

also out of curiosity how would i check the RIL is matched to wot i have, just wanna make sure i got all in the rite order so to speak, (i think i remember having a conversation about this before El but for the life me can find in which post it was

You need to install the Terminal Emulator app, once installed, open, allow Super User access, then enter the below:

getprop "gsm.version.ril-impl"

It should tell you your RIL (it does on GB ROMS anyway).
