Root Difference in rooting process between 2.1 and 2.2

Is there any difference at all rooting 2.1 or 2.2? I have never rooted before but I want to. I want to root my new 2.2 HTC DInc but I do not want to screw it up if there is a difference.

Yes there is a difference. 2.2 you cannot root, unless you had s-off BEFORE 2.2

I should have mentioned in the other post I thought about it after I said it, sorry. In order to do S-OFF, you need root, s-off will allow you to get root with 2.2, and is currently the only way. If you are already on the leaked RUU of 2.2 then I don't think you can root right now, and need to wait for a way, which will hopefully be soon.
