Hello, all!
I'm the brand new owner of an Evo; just moved to the smartphone world, just moved to Sprint (from a prepaid phone on AT&T). I also just rooted my phone with unrevoked3/forever and tethered it using Wireless Tether for Root Users 2.0.5.
Now, on to the problem. I am getting reasonable (if not great) speeds on the phone itself; using speedtest.net, I am getting (about) .35Mbps up and .68Mbps down. In the same location, with the same number of bars of reception, tethering (alternately to a netbook, powerbook, and iPod), I am getting from .06Mbps to .11Mbps down and .02Mbps to .11Mbps up.
I accept that there will be some speed lost in tethering, however, I have also tested using a friend's Evo. We have the same phone, on the same service, in the same location (sitting next to each other, connecting with the same hardware), rooted and tethered with the same version of Wireless Tether (though I had down- and upgraded to various versions of Wireless Tether to rule that out as a cause for difference)... but we are getting vastly different speeds. Even at his lowest, he is getting .52Mbps down and .42Mbps up, tethering.
The differences between our phones are as follows:
His

So... can anyone shed any light on this for me? I have tried almost every tweak I can find out there and have searched through the forums here, but I have not found anything (that I'm eager to try-- flashing the radio, ehhhhhhhh, I don't want to brick it) that solves the problem.
Thanks!
