Help Different Bionic power problem

Lurker
Ok so i have had my bionic since launch day and other than the rare random reboots when it thinks a little too hard i have not had a problem with it until now...3 days ago i hit the power button and unlocked my phone but as soon as i tapped the txt message icon it powered off, now thinking this was a random reboot i waited for it to come back on...but it never did. I hsve since tried everything short of chucking it across the room but it just wont turn on, i already have one on the way from motorola but as i was tinkering with it the other night since im not really worried about it anymore i found out something interesting...it might still have life? I tried plugging it in to the computer to see if booting the bios would work and though the screen didnt come to life the computer did recognize it being plugged in but failed to identify it...are there any guru's on here that mit be able to help me try some things to atlease access the file directory to get some important files off of it before its gone forever.

Try a simple reset (pull the battery and replace it) or (hold down the volume up/volume down/power buttons until a menu appears and then disappears).

If it was mine I would ...

Take it back to where I bought it ...

Try a Motorola battery that worked in another Bionic. Does it work?
If it still failed ... try a new SIM card.

If the new battery works ... get a replacement battery, USB cable, and charger.

Thom, thanks for th reply. I did try removing the battery and resetting, but i dient know about holding the buttons down so i'll give that a try, plus i tried it with both my extendd battery and the original so im pretty sure its not the battery, i also didnt think the sim card would keep it from at least booting so i did not try a new one.

Are you sure both batteries were charged (sorry I'm known for my dumb questions)?

I'm not sure the SIM card will make a difference.

You should check that the SIM card and SD-Ext card are firmly and squarely seated. (I dropped by Bionic once ... about a foot onto short pile carpet. When I popped the back and pulled the battery I saw that the SD-Ext card was out at an angle. I reseated it.)
