Dilemma: Galaxy S2 vs. Galaxy S2

I need the forum's help again.

I am pretty sure a lot of people are also having this issue. I just got mine not too long but I have 14 days to return.

My first question is...

How many times can you UPGRADE and then UNDO and then UPGRADE and then UNDO for AT&T? Can you do it 3 or 4 times in a row?

In a matter of a month, I've already done this twice. iPhone 3GS --> Infuse --> Galaxy S2 --> (???)

Secondly...

Is the upgrade significant enough that I should just exchange and pay that extra $50 bucks to get the "LTE" version? Is this version ultra fast or something?

Lastly...

Samsung is going way too fast. lol

I feel like Samsung Galaxy S3 is going to come out next month or something.

Its not just Samsung moving to fast. Its this whole android movement. There was an article on phonedog about how fast its moving. Its just a money issue. If Samsung wanted to, this new LTE device could of had been the GS2 out now. They just held it to make more money. As for the GS3, it'll be out in Europe probably around may sometimes. The atrix only lasted 8 months before a new version came out. Bionic has now been over shawdowed by the Droid RAZR just after a month. I just updated to the LG Thrill and luckily LG hasn't announced another device to over shadow that one on at&t. The EVO 3D seems to still be the only one of its kind on the now network. I agree with u though. The android market is moving way to fast!

This is going to ALWAYS be a issue....There is ALWAYS a new phone around the corner. Having said that...
1) AT&T will most likely not even have LTE until hell freezes over in most areas
2) Unless screen real estate is important to you this is not an upgrade due to the fact it has the same resolution as the SGS2 which infact is a downgrade
3) it has a Qualcom processor which is NOT as good as the Exynos....So there is another downgrade hence why it is clocked to 1.5 to keep up to par.
4) It has already been talked about on XDA that developement for this device will be slim as no existing radios will work as well as a slew of other things.(this may not matter to you)
5) In two or three months you will be pissed that AT&T has brought on its first ICS device.

Hang in there you have a REALLY good phone and more fun to come.;)

+1 for So-Cal!

That's good to hear that Galaxy S3 won't show up until May. At least that gives me some time to breathe.

Yeah... I thought the Japanese camera/cell phone market was super fast in the late 90s to mid 2000s. But that was several companies competing for the best spot. Samsung has grown so huge that they are now just competing against themselves.

Thanks for the post!

Im actually happy that you posted all that. It seems like the Galaxy S2 that I just got 2 days ago is still the better "high-end" Android for AT&T.

If it's 2-3 months, I am gonna be okay. But damn ONE WEEK?? I just freaking got my Galaxy S2 because the shipments just arrived at my Best Buy store.

I think I will learn to love this phone.

The GPS is definitely an upgrade over Infuse 4G and I like the Android apps more than the apps that I had on my iPhone 3GS. Oh yeah and it's SUPER fast.

I definitely appreciate what Apple did few years ago and changing the mobile landscape but I freaking love GOOGLE stuff and Samsung phones.

No Problem...I myself am a little of a Samsung fanboy, but I cannot get on board with this phone....I in no way think its a POS but its not a upgrade to the SGS2, bigger alternative YES, upgrade.....hardly.

If the difference was closer to an inch... then I may have considered it. I really do like their AMOLED display and IMO, it's definitely what made me switch from a very well-oiled iPhone line to Samsung Infuse 4G initially. Too bad I saw the demo for Galaxy S2 before the 30 day return and made my choice to get the S2. I Was VERRRRYY close to switching to Verizon for the Galaxy Nexus.

But with Jobs passing away, I knew it was over for Apple. Looked up the CEO of Samsung and was convinced that they would be on top for at least another year or two.

Lee Kun-Hee is like the third son of the original Samsung founder and then he attended Waseda University (which is like Princeton or Yale level) in Japan. And then he came to U.S. to get a MBA but didn't finish. Well, he knows three languages: Korean, Japanese and English. He's 69 but the guy is WELL-MADE.

eh...wiki information on CEOs are not really a good predictor of the success of future mobile devices. I also find the facts that Kun-Hee didn't complete his MBA in the US and that he speaks three languages completely irrelevant to my decision whether to exchange S2 for Skyrocket.

this is very simple. first question you need to ask yourself is "do I even HAVE 4G LTE in my area?" If no, then dont upgrade. Secondly, in my opinion, 4G isn't worth the upgrade yet. Its a battery hog and doesnt perform at true 4G speeds yet. not worth it, IMO>

Umm, you do realize screen SIZE is FAR FAR FAR more important than screen resolution?

You know the Ipad is 1024X600 or something like that, yet websurfing on it is 50X easier than any 720p phone will be. Why? Screen size aka real estate. DUHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

What the hell good would 1080P do you on a 1" display?

These phones arent displaying a different picture based on the resolution, anyway. It's not like 720P phones somehow display "more" of a webpage for example.

Resolution isn't irrelevant but as long as it's acceptable (and 800X480 is) screen size is far more important.

As for LTE, well they're already expanding, and it has HSPA anyway so you lose nothing, but gain future proofing.

The processor thing is true, but shoot I'm on a Captivate, that has a 1 ghz single core CPU! Point is dual core 1.5 gz is fast! Between the Exnyos @1.2 and Snapdragon @1.5 I'm not even sure which is faster, but either is fast enough. I'd argue where you wrongly call screen size irrelevant, CPU speed between these two is much closer to being irrelevant. Heck they always say in reviews single core phones are fast enough (example, Infuse reviews all said it was speedy in actual use).

shark974, and what good is a 100 inch one pixel screen? The real estate, or how much you can fit on the screen, actually depends on the number of pixels and not the size of the screen. So, 720p 14 inch screen and 720p 20 inch screen fit can fit the exact same amount on the screen, but it'll just be bigger on the 20inch screen and pixels will be more visible...I believe you were either a bit off here or we have a different understanding of what "real estate" means in this case.

You remind me of the arrogant tech support guy on old school Saturday Night Live.. Relax, it's only a smart phone, not politics..
