Dilemma: Thunderbolt or Atrix

Provider with the best service coverage for 3G or better should be the winner, IMO.

For me it is the almost as evil as Apple, VZW. Then again, they are all "evil", to some degree :)

Added: Agreed that a 4" display is a nice "sweetspot".

Yeah, the sheer magnitude of this phone is..weird. I picked up a Droid X at Best buy..I placed my "OG" Droid on top of it and I could see all parts of the Droid X around it, it was like putting a business card on top of a playing card. I'm sure I can adjust..I mean I went from a tour, to an env to a storm to the droid Slowly getting bigger..

But..god damn how much bigger are they gonna get?

Picked up my Atrix yesterday. I will say the decision just got a lot tougher. The Atrix is a pretty darn sweet phone... everything is fast, I haven't noticed any hesitation in the phone for anything.

I live in DC so I have Verizon LTE and supposedly HSPA+ from AT&T... The Atrix data speeds are definitely faster than my Iphone 3GS, but they're nowhere near 4G speeds. (Averaged 1 - 2 Mbps DL and like 200 Kbps UP.

So the decision is going to come down to how much faster Verizon's LTE service is going to be. If it's a lot faster, then I'll go with Verizon. If it's only a little faster, there's no point in changing because the Atrix is an awesome phone.

Hopefully the TB comes out before March 13th because that's when my 30 days are up.

Man that is slow. LTE should be at least 10X faster. That will be a HUGE difference.

because not everyone wants a huge phone. Yes 4.3 is nice but 4 inch IMO is the sweet spot. Nobody wants a brick in their pockets when they are carrying around a phone.

The Droid X, which I have, is barely bigger than the Fascinate. The fallacy is that all of a sudden you have a BRICK going from a 4 to 4.3. And BTW, some people DO want a bigger screen to work with. None of these smartphones are exactly svelt anymore anyway.... so gimme a bigger screen to use, and enough with the idea that all of a sudden you have added 10 lbs of lead in your pocket. In fact, I'm hoping someone comes out with a 4.5" phone soon....

Seriously, you are overstating the size difference.

5.02 x 2.58 x 0.39 Droid X

4.6 x 2.4 x .5 Original Moto Droid

Not a ton of difference there. In fact, the X fits very nicely in pockets as it is pretty thin. The has less bezel around the screen.

I was messing with a laptop with a 4g adapter at a store in pittsburgh, ran speedtest.net on it and got 10-15mbps consistently (5 tests)

I find it funny that some think 4.3" is this HUGE phone.... it doesn't make the phone much bigger people. But it DOES make a much more useable screen size. I personally am looking for a phone coming out with a 4.5" screen. For me I believe that is the sweet spot for screen size on a phone. Any bigger then I would go towards a tablet. But coming from my Inc to my DX by FAR the biggest advantage is the extra screen real estate. Makes a big difference IMHO.

A 4.5" to 5.0" screen would be the perfect smart phone :D
