Dinc Disassembly - Blueprint/Hardware Layout

After an incident involving my Incredible, a Booze Cruise, and the Ocean; my Dinc is dead and a new one is on the way. After extensive cleaning, drying, and waiting I have come to the conclusion that my old Dinc is 95% done for. It's dead Jim

Now lets perform some surgery. I currently have my HTC Droid Incredible completely and fully disassembled. I see the affected area, damn HD is corroded. **** salt water.

I can tell it's the HD because I recognized the SanDisk logo. However, I want to dig deeper. I am wondering if anybody knows where I can find a blueprint of sorts. I want to know more about the hardware - what's what? Another chip says Qualcomm, which means it's definitely the Snapdragon processor. Another chip has Samsung written on it - I wonder what that could be. And there are plenty of other cool pieces that I want to know more about. Any suggestions?

Hah, I've actually seen that video. It must have taken a lifetime to do all that stop-action video work. It does make for a cool video :D

I've been doing some of my own research. Maybe I can post it when I get back from work. The new Dinc is in my possesion, so at least I have something to take pictures with! ;)

Here's an quick update. I've completely disassembled the Incredible. Taken off the metal protectors and revealed the true hardware. MUHAHAHAHAHHAHA.

Too bad I have work tomorrow - I'll have to come back later with the diagnostics. Programmer/Artists gotta eat!

a bit off topic i suppose but i have a quick question for you considering you tore yours down.

my power button is pretty much non existent and have to press it ~7 times to actually get it to work.

does the button itself look easily replaced? (on the level of not having any idea about replacing such things ;) )

it seems a lot of people have had this problem, but havnt found much information besides "if its under warranty, bring it back to verizon"

if anyone has a link to buy/replace such a thing feel free to PM me it/post it here <3

some people have been successful with spraying compressed air into the button.

there is also replacement parts on "repairs universe" website. not sure which part includes the power button.

The actual power button is pretty heavily tied down to the motherboard. Not something that could be fixed at home.

If it's the plastic piece (that you normally press down), that is connected to the back face plate and could be easily replaced.

Took mine apart today, it wasnt that hard to do at all..My new screen should be here tomorrow and I'll have a good as new phone for the Mrs to use to replace her LG Vortex

The disassembly is one thing, but putting it back together is a bit trickier. You must be very careful inserting the ribbons. I am soon to be replacing the screen and digitizer on an HTC Eris, let me know if you discover any tricks and tips.

I got it done, reinstalling the ribbon cable wasnt that hard to.Just make sure everything is lined up and they will slip right in.
the only issue I had after install was the phone would go into a continuous reboot, i had to reboot into recovery and reset the system..
the new screen looks great
