Root DINC2 Unlock Bootloader: Cannot select "yes"

ushakaHTC

Lurker
Well, I used the unlock tool for the Droid Incredible 2 to unlock the bootloader. Everything was going fine: fastboot worked, the usb cable was recognized, and I followed all the steps perfectly.

Then I got to the final step: the "Unlock bootloader" screen. It looked normal, but whenever I try to select "yes" with the power button to complete the process, nothing happens. The phone doesn't reboot, but it doesn't freeze, either. I could select "no", however.

Am I doing something wrong? Thank you in advance for your assistance!

(The phone is S-ON)

I used the HTCDev unlock tool.

EDIT: Also, might as well throw in some more information on what else I have tried:

The phone is semi-bricked.

All I can access on the phone is HBOOT. ADB does NOT see the device, even after installing drivers. I cannot get into recovery; when I select recovery, the screen goes to a HTC screen for a few seconds, then a screen pops up that states "Updating Software from Verizon Wireless", then the screen goes black and nothing happens.

FASTBOOT does see the device while in fastboot mode; however, the bootloader unlock token/gettoken commands work while all oem unlock commands do not work.

I tried flashing an RUU (DINC2 2.3.4 RUU) to an SD Card. I renamed it to PG32IMG.zip and placed it in the root of the SD Card before reinserting the SD Card. The screen goes as far as "RECOVERY - Updating" before hanging. Nothing happens.

EDIT 2: I cannot enable USB Debugging because I can't access anything other than HBOOT.

If your hboot still says locked get a warranty replacement.

unfortunately,yes...

if an RUU hangs while updating any particular partition, thats usually a pretty bad sign

if you can find access to an xtc clip, you should be able to use that to s-off the phone in its current state, and then have some other options to try and recover, but i believe that trying to install a recovery will fail, and any ruu you run will prolly hang there :(

if you do have access to a clip,id be happy to help you try some things.

only other thing i can think of is trying a factory reset in hboot(tho i believe that will fail also if the recovery partition is damaged)

I am having the same issue, however I AM s-off, I had CM9 running, tried to go back to stock ROM. At some point relocked the bootloader via fastboot (following a different forum directions). Now I am stuck at the HTC screen and when I try to unlock the bootloader via HTC Dev I am not able to select "Yes" on my device to complete the unlock. Any suggestions, please????

-you can run .exe RUU files from fastboot or the booted OS
-you can run .zip RUU files from fastboot(PG32IMG)
-you can install a touch recovery as an ruu from fastboot. you can then use recovery to flash a rom

as bberry said, you do not need to unlock if youre radio s-offed. the only advantage of unlocking will be the ability to fastboot flash partitions, and to be able to fastboot boot recovery and boot images

edit:
directions for flashing .zip files from fastboot here: http://androidforums.com/rezound-all-things-root/535820-how-easier-way-flash-ph98img-files.html
