Help Direct Pen Input & New Handwriting Area

Hi guys

I have the Note 8 and prior KitKat, I would have to switch back and forth between Swiftkey and the Samsung keyboard to use the S Pen with the Samsung KB. I read that KitKat supports writing with the S Pen when using Swiftkey beta. A fellow coworker has the Galaxy Note 10.1 2014 edition and with Swiftkey beta as the active KB, he can get that icon to switch to handwriting mode. I don't have that icon when I hover my pen over a text box (Evernote for example). I read later that Direct Pen Input needs to be enabled but I don't have that setting under S Pen within Settings. Is that not available on the Note 8?

On a related note (excuse the pun), I don't like the new handwriting area under the Samsung KB. It has a scrolling line that moves your converted text to the left. I also find it doesn't recognize my writing as good as before. I can't find a way to revert back to the previous writing area. Any ideas?

Thanks!

I noted your second point yesterday. Heck of an improvement. The offset is also exaggerated.

I found it would take a word and turn it into something like &(@*#&$(

I'll try and grab a screenshot next time.

Is there a site that helps to explain how the new writing recognition area works? I can't find much on it.
