Root Disable fast dormancy?

RBEmerson

Android Enthusiast
It's time to renew with VZW. My current DROID RAZR MAXX works fairly well. More importantly, I found a hack to disable fast dormancy. Some carriers (notably, Rogers in Canada) don't support it, causing the phone to do ugly things (e.g., freeze). In my case, the Bahamian telephone system doesn't support fast dormancy.

I'm thinking hard about the One M8; being able to disable fastdormancy is a must. If there's no way to do it, there's no One M8 in my future.

Rooting isn't an issue. The RAZR MAXX has to be rooted to disable fast dependency - BTDT. Changing ROM's is, however, not an option. Sitting somewhere in the Exumas with a bricked phone set up with a custom ROM is not something I want to know about. Ever.

vzw m8 has gsm capabilities. as to your other question,im not sure what "fast dependency" is. can you link,or clarify?

Ahh gotcha. Unfortunately,I have no answer for you. That is not a typical question with HTC,in fact this is the first time I've ever seen it.

A search suggests that it is not possible to disable it on jb+ Roms. I did see on reference to editing build.prop, but no idea if that would be affective on 4.4.

I'll poke around some more, and let you know if I find anything

Put your threads together under the right name. If you want it sorted further, please just ask, we're happy to help. :)

So, from the thread clarifying the issue, it seems to come down to not letting wifi go to sleep (the first point in that thread).

Is that true?

If so, isn't that still a setting with any HTC? They added it some time ago, two years as memory serves.

[/shrug] Whatever it takes to get the threads right.

The issue is not a WiFi problem. Sammy Galaxy phones recognize the issue and have "secret" type-ins to disable fast dormancy. And there are other phones with the same problem.

At least with BaTelCo, the phone gradually slowed down until it was totally unresponsive. In voice-only mode, it was stable and functional.
