If you want the best of both worlds, like I have. You don't want the lock screen getting in the way, but you don't want to have it unsecured if someone picks it up either; then try an app called "Delayed Lock". It can be set up a host of ways so that there is no lock screen at all (eg. <5min) then the simple lock (eg. b/w 5min to 6 hours) then after that the phone is locked with a password (>6hours ). There is a trial version to see if it works then buy the app if it works for you. The trail version can only set a max of 5min delay. your millage may vary!
