Disable updates and GPS on Tbunderbolt?

Lurker
Hi Everyone,
I've been lurking around for a while while researching new phones and ended up going with the HTC Thunderbolt through Verizon. So far I love the phone but its my first smartphone so I have nothing to compare it to.
I was hoping you could help me out. I'm going to Cancun this weekend and I don't want to come back with a ridiculous bill. I would like to leave my phone on all the time so that people could contact me but I dont want it to be updating automatically and tracking me on GPS and all that stuff. I'm assuming that would use up Data on my plan which I also assume is ridiculously expensive.
Is there anyway I can prevent this?
Thanks for the help!

I don't remember what the categories are called exactly since I'm using CM7 instead of Sense but under the settings:
in Location, turn off GPS
in Wireless/Networks, turn off Data
in Accounts/Sync, turn off Background Data and Auto-Sync

Maybe someone with a stock phone can find the exact locations for these settings... but just dig around, you'll see them in there.

Thanks I appreciate the help. I'll play around with the phone during my lunch break
