Help Disabling Sense UI in Android 2.2.1?

Hey everyone, I'm new to Android and everything so sorry if I get anything wrong.
I noticed that there is a way to disable the Sense UI on the HTC Wildfire running Android 2.1, but on the Froyo update, the "remove defaults" action is no longer there. Does anyone know a different way to disable it? I've searched everywhere and it would be a great help.

Welcome to the forums.

Rooting your device will enable you to do much more than not rooted, especially with regard to configuring your screens, etc.
