Help Disabling tones

How do I disable that tone that I hear whenever I connect the USB or plug in my headset?

settings > sound & display > Notification Ringtone


scroll to the very top for silent.

Will the Silent setting also affect my status updates in the notification bar for things like Facebook or Twitter?

you can sent individual tones for most things by hitting the menu key, when your using the app, and going to settings/preferences.
