I'm an Old School repair guy in the biz 18yrs. I have disassembled/Repaired hundreds of PDA's. Been looking for disassembly guide for HTC Inspire. Searched You Tube and many other sites and couldnt find one. All I need to know is if the Digitizer on this one is factory fuzed to LCD. I figured the Iphone 2g was the last with this BS but then found the Storm 2 actually went backwards from the 1 and had this. I have the digitizer coming in today or tomorrow and just wanted to check. Anyone know? Thanx in advance...

Do you know that for sure; out of experience? I had heard that; but according to what I found, the Desire is close to the Nexus One, not the Inspire. Along them being different Technologies(which usually doesnt matter,ie BB's), they dont even look the same.
I'll take a look at the video and see. I'm pretty sure its not a factory fused Digitizer, but I'll know for sure tomorrow when I go into surgery.
If anyone can confirm for sure before hand, I would appreciate it. Thanx.
BTW, us old school guys hate this BS w/the names used instead of model numbers and HTC is the worst culprit.

the desire is not the same, however the Desire HD is the same as the inspire, it was just renamed for US release.
lol...Case in point about using these damn names instead of model numbers...maybe its just an old school thing...

Its seems theyre following in Job's footprints; making phones designed to break and not be repaired; planned obsolescence through normal wear and tear.

OK, let me start this by stating I've been in this business 18 years, 16 with my own company. I have repaired over 1000 phones; hundreds of PDA's.
That being said, this HTC Inspire is the hardest phone I've ever taken apart and should not be attempted by anyone who is not an expert. It took me 5 hours to replace the digitizer on this phone. There are problems with every step. The coaxel wiring alone is complicated and built to break. even reassembling was tough all the way down to the GPS and flashlight cover. Those A$$HLS in the video have disassembled that phone many times and the original stick is way worse. I expect this from any disassemble video I watch, but this is way worse. The stick tape that is actually on the bottom of the LCD is not even in the video! The Digitizer/lcd DOES NOT come apart like that. The cage frame it sits in CANNOT be bent, not even one of the hundred teeth holding the rubber seal. The rubber seal rips very easily and stretches. Thus has to be ripped out in order to put the backplate on.
In short, Dont even attempt replacing the LCD or Digitizer. BUY the whole set WITH THE FRAME. Since no one is selling this as of now(Maybe a guy in UK, I'm trying to find out if it will match) DO NOT BUY THIS PHONE WITHOUT INSURANCE!!!
I know I'm a Newb to this forum, but some one should sticky this or whatever you guys do. Until the whole lcd ensemble comes out, someone should let people know; If you buy this phone, BUY THE INSURANCE!!!

I HAAATTTTEEEE HTC, what with the lack of model numbers and hidden flex cables and awkward placement of pretty much everything. I have one of these phones to fix the digitizer and i am dreading it. It looks (exterier) like it might be sneaky like the HD2; the two huge flex cables at a 90 degree angle from each other underneath the motherboard. what is that? come on phone companies stop being so greedy and making your phones so difficult and expensive to fix.
I also just finished replacing the glass on this phone & after watching all these youtube videos. I can say that not one of them goes into detail about the difficulties one encounters when taking this phone apart. Have you found troubleshooting info on the net? my HTC Inspire screen will not work after I replaced the glass. I have taken it apart 3 times and checked all the connections. Any help will be appreciated.
