Root Disaster help Please! RESOLVED

I do have a folder named TitaniumBackup. It was actually a backup folder that I got from dropbox after the initial phone crash. Somebody suggested
try using it. (the backup folder). I rebooted the phone and TBP is still hung at "asking for root rights"

Are you on 2.2 or 2.2.1, either way if you dont have custom recovery jabba up there has all the instructions posted to add custom recovery flashing roms etc. If i were you i would just start from scratch with a new rom, then see if you still have issues with titanium backup, i use titanium pro and havent had any issues yet. I went back and forth from rom to rom about 2 times just to see which one i liked better. If i were you i would just flash to a new rom then go from there, As i said earlier jabba has step by step instructions on everything for you. try the sense rom first it is very stable, cm7 has some bugs but after you change a few settings everything works fine. Trust me
 
It was suggested that I update to 2.2.1 since it can now be rooted. So I installed the LG software, updated the USB drivers and when trying to update the software I get this error message:
"Updating is not possible any longer due to fatal error while the LG Mobile Phone Software Update". (Verbatim)
Then it suggests I press the online contact button which takes me to a web page that cannot be displayed for some reason. Tried this several times. Is anyone familiar with the working definition of insanity? Well I'm there, trying the same thing over and over and expecting different results:eek:.
Perhaps a good nights sleep is in order. It's been quite an ordeal. Thank you again for all your help and any ideas are welcome.

I had the same problem and same error lol. I can even show you the thread. But anyways what I did was I downloaded terminal emulator and typed the commands to get custom recovery back. You will need to be rooted. Jabba has the instructions posted for everything. You will need put the flash_image to root of your SD card. Then type the commands out and you will have custom recovery back. From there you can go by the step by step instructions on how to flash a ron from custom recovery. Try the sense rom out first.

i used this custom recovery.

download the 2 zips at towards the bottom of his post. i was rooted under z4root when i used them instructions.


download terminal emulator from the market and do the following commands:
# su
then from there just type out your commands in the instructions to get recovery back. After getting recovery back power phone off then just long hold power button volume down button and home button at the same until you see the lg screen then release. from there is where you will be able to flash new roms etc.

I have the LG optimous from metro PC's. When I first got it I updated not knowing at that time I couldn't root the phone. I used mikes tools way to bring the phone back to 2.2. Now when I try to use LG software I get a error telling me update can't continue due to fatal error. What I need to know is can I put reppards rom that I seen posted here. And I am new to this can someone tell me how to flash after custom recovery to apply the rom. Help would be appreciated.

Because of the help of jabbawest and especially thunderkiss65 I am back on the air. Very long story short I am now running Android 2.2.1 Sense Rom Joneidy. With a lot of help was able to create a nand? backup withgetitnowmarketing's great tutorial. I reinstalled Titanium Backup Pro and everyhting was returned (especially contacts). Thanks to all and again could not have done without thunderkiss65's step by step guidance.
This a GREAT forum .
