Discounts!

I'm in chicagoland... western suburbs, and received a flyer in the mail, today... it doesn't say "3G to 4G" but it does mention my line, that does still have a 3G phone on it, and it does offer "$100 on any 4G smartphone" (in addition to my $30 "Loyalty Credit").

so. I'm happy!

The CS reps I spoke to did mention a promotion about receiving $100 for upgrading from a non-smartphone to a smartphone, but couldn't find any info on a promotion for upgrading from a 3g phone to 4g phone.

For those of you that were able to move up your NE2, does that include your $50 loyalty discount? I called two or three weeks ago and the CSR told me they'd be happy to sell me the phone at subsidized pricing ($299) if I upgrade early, but I'd lose my $50 loyalty discount.

My upgrade date is 12/29.

I scanned the front cover and back cover of the thing... inside is 10 pages of advertisements. I'll scan the couple of pages that mention the offer again, if anyone wants.

The $30 is my last NE2, I assume, that they're now calling a "Loyalty Discount"

gosh, the quality kinda sucks... sorry, gotta go out and do some quick shopping, but I'll try and make better scans when I get home.

So my question is.....my "official upgrade date" is Dec 29th. I have no intention of waiting that long. If I press for the phone on Friday...will they let me have it.....especially if I'm screaming and crying and singing kum bah yah??

I upgraded to a Thunderbolt, but then sold my Thunderbolt and now only have a 3G unlimited plan on my OG Droid. I live a bit north of Chicago, do you think I'll be able to get the discount when I "upgrade" back up to 4G? (I still have the 4G SIM card lol)

Nice find! I was told by a CSR today that the discount would be applied at checkout. I'm in MN. Nice thing is that it stacks with the NE2. How sweet!

This deal is specific for the person who received it. If you look to the right of the address label, you will see: "applies to wireless # ending in:6029". This guy is eligible for an upgrade, and VZW is trying to keep him in the fold, so they are offering discounts.

I got these for my wife's line a bunch last fall.

Just got off the phone with a CSR from the central customer service line, she didn't know anything about a 3G to 4G discount, Midwest-exclusive or otherwise. :(

Big props to efdisaster though, I'm going to see if I can fool VZW into accepting that from me, as the primary account holder is based in Illinois. :D

Ugh I want this!!!! Anybody had any luck in Ohio getting this discount? Called and gone to a store trying to get this discount with no luck. Hoping someone has a good angle to take. Would love to get a discount on my Nexus! :D

If you live in Indianapolis and have a 3G smartphone; due for an upgrade, and/or are going month to month,
You qualify for the 3G to 4G promotion, which is $100 off when you upgrade to any 4G smartphone.

It was explained that this is a rebate that you receive after you mail in a rebate.
So,
If you pick a 4G device that is $299.99,
You pay the $299.99 plus tax on 299.99,
You get a rebate receipt and assume you have to cut the UPC off the device's box.
Mail it in to address on rebate receipt.
A Visa Debit card with $100 on it will be mailed out to you.

^^^
This is what I was told this evening on the phone with Customer Care.

If this is incorrect, someone (who works VzW preferably) please come forward and explain how the $100 off works.

I myself, think this $100 off promo should come off at the time of the 4G upgrade transaction.

Hrm, I'm just a couple hours south, near Louisvile, KY. I wonder if I could get the same discount here then. If so, it would be awesome if I could stack my $50 NE2 credit on top of it for a total of $150 off .

I'll have to call CS tomorrow and ask about it. Was that customer care at an actual store in Indianapolis or did you just call Verizon customer service (*611 on your cell)?

Thanks for the info!

I haven't called them, yet, but do you think the flier I scanned in above is the same promotion? The ONLY place it says the words "rebate" or "Debit card" (in relation to the $100, it mentions that there's a rebate on the stratosphere) are in the small print on the last page. I scanned in every other page that mentions the $100 ... aren't they usually a little more direct when it's a rebate and not just a discount?

They plastered, "Plus save an extra $100 on any 4G smartphone" in a couple of places too.

The way VzW worded this leads me even MORE down the debit card road.
'Specially since debit card IS mentioned in the fine print & no where does VzW mention instant rebate/discount :(

I think they'd get more results with an up front "INSTANT REBATE".

Its the holidays, and people are pinching their pennies already as is.

Hmm I wonder if they consider Denver to be the Midwest. Only one way to find out, no harm in trying. Thanks for the heads up OP!

*611

The $100 promotion appears to come in the mail after the initial purchase...
Not an Instant savings :(
But better than nothing!

Yeah, that's no biggie for me. It was the same deal with rebates back when I got my Droid. You can use the credit card they send you anywhere, so it's the same as cash, basically.

I'm about to call after work :).

The reps didn't make it seem like I would have to do a rebate for the $100 off, so hopefully when I call and place my order, the discounts will be honored on the spot.
