Root Discussion & Question: Upgrading to Best kernel / rom

I rooted about a year ago and picked out a kernel/rom.
I'd like to upgrade/update. What should I upgrade/update to?
Also, can someone give me a quick step by step recap since I haven't touched this in a year I'm a little rusty on what I need to do.

To reiterate, I'm already rooted, I just want to update my original EVO 4G to the latest android version/kernel that the processor can handle and some ROM that goes along with that.

If you prefer sense go with MikG 3.11. It has sense 2.1+3.0 and all the bells and whistles like a hacked sprint hotspot.

For kernel I would either go with Agressive freedom

To flash a ROM:
make a nandroid backup in recovery(keep first 3 checked)
Select wipe
Wipe EVERYTHING 2-3 times except for SD card (wipe SD-EXT & SD-android secure)
Flash your ROM
Flash your kernel

& hopefully your using Amon Ra recovery & not CWM

A great ROM to flash is MikG 3.11, so far it is one of the best and most liked sense based ROM, just scroll down and get the full wipe version - MikG v3.11 [3/9/2012]

Here is good custom recovery also, although it is not needed it wouldnt hurt to update - PC36IMG_RA_2.3.zip
