Hi all first post for me

I've had the phone now for about a week and am seriously considering sending it back on the cool off period.

So one last attempt at setting up correctly.

1, can I reduce the sensitivity of the screen?
2, The awful HTC sense, can it be turned off leaving just the base OS
3, Can I set up the messages to proper inbox, outbox, sent massages
4, All I do is text and call, battery life is shocking like 1-2 days, just like phones from 1990

Please help, I feel like I downgraded from my old LG Viewty

2, The awful HTC sense, can it be turned off leaving just the base OS

Why not just remove all the widgets. Long press and drag to remove.

Battery life should be better after you remove all the widgets.

If all you so is call and text you might as well turn off data.

In Settings ---> Wireless and networks ---> Turn off "Wi-Fi" and "Mobile network"
In Settings ---> Account and Sync ---> Turn off "Background data" and "Auto-sync"

Someone else will have to answer the rest.

It does seem like you bought the wrong kind of phone...

Thanks for the reply.

I have used a Galaxy mini and the OS seems so much nicer, I'm not worried about all the eye candy BS, I like things to work with the best performance

Wifi and data are off and so is sync. the Accelerometer is off so are the things that turn volume down when picked up and the turny over bit

I have found a app GoSMS to sort the text settings, now just go to sort battery life and the screen that is rediculously sensitive.

Seriously considering the cool off period though

I have a Galaxy Ace and a Desire HD. If you like the Samsung TouchWiz, yes, than I can imagine that you would not like Sense's widgets very much. Behind those widgets are some pretty useful apps like Friend Stream, Peep, Weather and the like which you won't find on TouchWiz.

I get 15-18 hours before I recharge at 15-30% daily on my Desire HD, but I have data running the whole day for email, contact and calendar sync, Twitter, Facebook and news. I run GTalk 24/7. I actually have hit 30 hours or so on weekends sometimes.

If you need more battery life, consider turning off haptic feedback. Vibration consumes a fair amount of battery life.

I would seriously consider a different phone though if you can still return it. I would not use an Android if I did not use it with a data plan. I know it is not a popular choice these days, but for calls, text and email... nothing beats a BlackBerry.

Hi

Thanks for the replies.

I do have a data plan, but to have to turn it off to get any decent battery life is pretty useless.

So made the decision to send it back, and get a better phone.

Might be for the best... connected to 3G the whole day neither our Desire HD or more efficient Samsung Galaxy Ace will do more than one day. My friend uses an iPhone 4, and he charges daily too but it generally last longer by a fair margin as against my DHD.

The only phone I know that has a very long battery life on data is a BlackBerry.
