Help Display Brightness issue

ok so i set the brightness to the lowest.i turned off the automatic brightness adjustment and i also disabled the power saving mode on my captivate. however, the screen goes back to the brigthest sometimes. is anyone having the same problem?

The stock browser has it's own brightness setting. Also, there is a kind of "dynamic contrast setting" that will adjust the brightness a bit depending on how much white or black is on the screen. Maybe one of these options are confusing you?

For the browser brightness setting, press the menu button and its on the very bottom under the normal settings button. In my opinion i think it was pretty stupid of samsung to have the browser have its own brightness setting with no option to keep it on the system brightness setting.

For the dynamic contrast brightness setting, press the menu from the home screen, go to settings, sound and display, and disable the power saving mode.

I agree, this is very annoying. Hopefully this gets fixed in the future. The phone brightness settings should over rule any application settings for it.

In the meantime I have found that the Power Control Widget allows you to toggle to three brightness levels instantly. I use the darkest setting most of the time and switch to bright when outdoors in sunlight.

You'll notice that sound volume levels return to full too for system sounds. That annoys me. Seems like after running certain apps or maybe rebooting.

This phone is annoying the heck out of me. I REALLY appreciate HTC Android phones now... QUIT CHANGING THE BRIGHTNESS ON ME!!!

Anyone know how to stick the brightness? Even with the browser on high setting it's still dimmer than my main settings.

This has the same effect as dragging your finger across the top of the screen. That function also toggles between the three brightness settings.

I knew my finger movement of some sort was triggering the brightness!! But still, I keep setting the brightness to low to save battery, but no avail =(
