Help Display eating battery life

So, I have had my Rezound for about 5 days now and the battery life is not as good as my Droid X, which was somewhat expected. My problem is that when I check to see what is eating up so much battery so fast, it is saying that my display is using 50%-65% of the battery... and that is AFTER i put the brightness down ALL the way!! Is anyone else having this issue and/or does anyone know how to correct it?

Thanks!

I wouldn't be concerned about the percentage so longer as you are getting the hours you need on the smartphone. Think of it this way, if all I did was look at the beautiful screen all day, it would indicate that the battery was using 100% of the battery. :)

True but I would like to brighten the screen up some... and I would really like to get more life out of the battery... Unfortunatly, I'm pretty sure I wont be able to get a full "day" out of it(I'm awake roughly 18hrs a day). I have also disabled the Wi-fi and 4G to increase life.

I thought display was almost always the number one battery killer...it is for me on the rezound, and was on my original droid. I could see phone calls being number one if you talk quite a bit on the phone.
Right now I have calls and display both as the number two battery killer(both 16%), and that is only because I had cardiotrainer (49%) on for a two hour bike ride. Usually display is always around 40% for me.

Do you have your Wi-fi and 4G active? I'm goin to the Verizon store this evening to get the extended battery... They are on sale right now for $29.99! Most of sales reps don't know this but once it gets rung up it's $29.99... I called and had the guy ring up over the phone just to check.

I've been somewhat disappointed with the battery as well. I love the phone but the battery is the bummer. If I turn auto sync off and stay on wifi if avaiable i got around 13,14 hours one day. This to me however, is not realistic. I bought this phone for what it is, and don't want to have turn things off...I shouldn't have to. I have been getting around 7.5 to 8 hrs on a full charge. That is in performance mode, with what i consider moderate usage. Lots of texting, some internet and a bit of checking social media. I carry an extra battery and will just have to charge when I can. I've been tempted to get the extended battery, but don't really want to have the added thickness...I love the feel of this phone as is. I'd be interested to hear what you think of the extended cover, maybe I will think more about it.

I have either wifi or 4g active while at home, but turn both off for the better part of the day while at work, as neither of those are available to me at work. Even if i forget to turn wifi off, I do not see a difference that I can tell. I usually get home about 6 or so (about 13 hours off charger) and have about 50% left. I have phone on performance mode, ~10 minutes calls, ~10 texts, hours of music (not streaming), ~15 minutes of web surfing. Brightness on auto.
When I leave 4g on during the weekends all day, my battery will be drained more, but still gets me through the day.
How long have you had the phone? The first few days my battery life was horrible, and was going to go to verizon to get a new battery....but either the battery life somehow got better, or my meter adjusted correctly.

i leave my screen brightness on Auto
i use 3G only all day and wifi for a few hours at home
with moderate use i go from 10 to 15 hours on the reg.

You people that are having horrible battery life it may not be the screen. It could also be a rogue app , it could be that your in a bad coverage area. Or worst case scenario you could actually have a bad battery or phone. It happens.

Very true, but it also shouldn't come as a surprise to anyone that the screen is usually the main power drain. It was that way on the Tbolt, and on the Inc2 as well. I think once you hit 4" or larger on the screen, that's just a fact of life.

I'm really amazed at the difference in battery life from everyone right now. The only time I noticed 13 or 14 hour battery life was while on wifi and with auto sync turned off. I've had the phone for almost 2 weeks now, and I'm on avg getting 8-10 hrs tops. I've downloaded plenty of apps to track what is using my battery, and I don't think it is a rogue app. I have two batteries as well, so I don't think it is a battery issue. I really thought it was the phone, but a coworker sent his to the same options as mine (basically performance mode) and he is only getting about 8 hours as well. I'm coming from an Incredible, and battery life wasn't the best but I could pretty easy get 10-12 hours from a charge. I know that 4g is said to drain more battery, but when I turn 4g off I don't see much of a difference. Maybe it is my phone? This is such a tough issue to diagnose though since there are so many variables to the equation. I'm starting to think I should just return the phone and see if there is a difference.

I appear to be having battery issues too. It will drop about 30% in less then an hour without any use at all, with the exception that it is in an area with a weak signal. I should note that I have 4g, wifi, bluetooth disabled as well as syncing set to very limited time frames with a power setting of normal. Would a weak signal kill the battery that quickly?

Also, I am wondering if the people who are having less battery performance are those with the 3.8v battery? I just got a spare battery and it is the 3.7v. One thing I noticed already is that the 3.7v will charge to 100%, but the 3.8 would always stop at 99%.

guys, on every HTC phone, display is ALWAYS NUMBER ONE. no matter WHAT! every single sense since 2.0 i believe accurately reported display as being number one. yes, the display kills any battery, but just because it's number one doesn't mean your battery is dying. my display is ALWAYS bnumber one with like 75%, and ill get like 15 hours out of my phone.

Just curious... would like to know, could the battery life issue be the 3.7V versus the 3.8V batteries??? Please reply and let us know what battery you are using. Both my standard and extended are 3.7V and having batery life issues. Those of you that have good/great battery life, are you running a 3.8? Thanks for the feed back!!

I definitely have a 3.7v, and I'm not experiencing this great battery life. A coworker's phone came with the 3.8v, and he has a replacement that is 3.7v. I'll try and get him to run some "tests" and see if there is a difference.

I have both (phone came with a 3.8v battery, and I bought a couple of 3.7v batteries and an external charger from HTCPedia). I've noticed zero difference between the batteries.

Well maybe it's time to exchange this phone...it really seems like either people are getting 13-14 hrs, or 6-8 hrs. I am unfortunately with the former group. I don't think this comes down to a rogue app as has been suggested. I have pretty much the same apps on my phone as I did on my Incredible, and battery life great with that phone. Don't get me wrong, I love the rezound, and I would be ok knowing that the battery life is what I have now. When I hear people getting 15 hrs, and I'm sturggling to reach 10, I don't want to keep a phone that may have a fault. There has to be someway to get to the bottom of this....
