Help Display Flashing for No Reason!

Omeniser

Newbie
I have my Galaxy S II on the table with the display turned off and with the pattern lock on, and suddenly the display turns on and I check the status bar for any notifications and there is nothing. I go to the task manager and close all the active apps and still it does so for no reason at all. I terribly need a solution because it reduces the standby time of the mobile. Also I just can't ignore the fact that its happening. So if you have any ideas of stopping this and if you guys out there actually know what is wrong, please reply. I really appreciate it. Thanks in advance :)

Put phone into airplane mode and see if it still does it. Could be a update through data which is simply not showing correctly. May help you eliminate some causes.

I think these two replies might be helpful. Thank you for replying and if its not still solved.. Will be back for more answers.. Thanks anyways! :)

Wait a minute, the article you posted says that the screen flickers when they open the app but my mobile does that when it is absolutely doing nothing. Nobody is even carrying or let alone touching when the flickering occurs. As I said, even the pattern lock is on when this happens. I dont think the article refers to my problem. :(

Try getting watchdog lite (free on the marketplace/play) and checking which apps are consuming the most cpu, the one that is will probably be the culprit.

Alternatively have you tried a full factory reset, will wipe your data but there are plenty of backup apps on the market for free that dont require root.

Obviously if you do this dont put all the backups straight back on as, if it is a app problem, you will be back a square one.
