Based on some googling, this appears to be a unique issue.
I got my Skyrocket s2 the day they went on sale back in November. I am a relatively light user. A few apps, a few calls a day, email checks, social networking etc.
Anyway, I've experienced a few random shutdowns that I've seen others complain about, but today was something new.
I needed to check something on my phone, picked it up off my desk, where it's been sitting since I last used it about 4 hours ago, and the screen didn't turn on. I thought it perhaps had powered down, so I plugged in the charger, to see if that kickstarted something. I didn't expect a battery drain, I have a battery saver app (and once I fixed the problem, saw I still had 84% or so) and haven't had a battery issue since installing that.
Anyway, when I plugged in the charger, it made the little "boop" sound. So, i hit the volume up button, and sure enough, it booped louder, then softer when i hit volume down. I picked up my desk phone and called my cell.. no ring. I tried again a minute later.. it rang, but the display never lit up to give me the option to answer.
Eventually, I just power cycled the thing (held down the power button until something happened.) and it now appears to be functioning normally.
WTF?? This phone is just riddled with little annoying bugs, but this one legitimately worries me.
