Help Display Randomly Turning On

I got the HTC One M8 and when I have it sitting on my desk while I'm on the computer I see the screen turn on every 30min-1hr ish and then after the screen delay it turns back off. I have all the exact same apps as my previous android phone and this never happened. I'm assuming it's a app doing this but is there any way to find out exactly which app it might be if that is case?

Edit: No I don't get any kind of notification or text, or mail, or anything. How can I see what apps have control of my display?

install this cool little app Wakelock detector It will tell you what is waking up your phone.

If it reports nothing I would suggest also calibrating the gyro in Settings>display and gestures>G-sensor calibration

Hope this helps! Let us know what caused the problem

I read the guide for the Wakelock Detector there is a non root method of doing it. Would you suggest it? It's in the description of the app on the store.

I had an old app that did this on another phone. One way to tell if it is your phone or a rogue app is to boot into safe mode and see if it still happens.
If it does, it is your phone.

hi there.
i have seen this too.. sort of thought i was imagining it :-D doesn't happen often and no obvious reason for screen coming on that i can see

weird .... this has been happening more today - since rooting i guess - will have to do the wakelock detect if it continues

Check this out dan55:

PERMISSION MANAGER

https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.ovmobile.appopslauncher&hl=en

Even though the description says it doesn't work on 4.4.2,it still acts as if it does.
It shows the permissions of every app on your phone & allows for toggling of each permission, including KEEP AWAKE.

At minimum,it should allow for you to identify which apps are capable of keeping your phone awake & possibly will allow for you to turn-off the permission & still have a functioning app w/o having to remove it from your phone.
