Help Display Shuts Off When I Try to Hit Dial Pad

I can make a call but during a call if I have to go to my dial pad to enter an account number or something, I take the phone off my ear, the display comes on but when I put my hand near the screen to enter something into the keypad the display goes off again as if I had put the phone back to my ear or something.

Any advice?

I just checked all 3 of mine - that's not normal behavior. Your proximity detector is probably out of place or overly sensitive. Find a tech support center for your carrier (ask the local carrier's store if you don't know where one is) and ask if they can do a repair or replace for you. The phone's still under warranty.

Be sure you back EVERYTHING up, because if they have to replace the phone all you'll get back is your battery, SD card and, if there is one, SIM card.

Wave your hand slowly over the Samsung logo at the top of the phone with the phone tilted slightly away from your face.
