display using battery life

in your battery usage stat how much of your battery life does your display use. mine today said 85% I had it on a lot today... Do any of you use the auto brightness? or do you leave at a preset position the whole time?

I use auto brightness and my display eats 50-70% depending on usage and I don't consider myself a power user.

so it sounds like it would save a bit. Do you find the auto brightness annoying? I turned it on but it would shift brightness so fast it was annoying.

15% is all for display... 63% for voice calls.

I do not use the auto brightness option. My usage is probably more phone-oriented, rather than data although I do get 30-50 emails on it per day from various accounts, check stock quotes, facebook status, and sports scores occasionally.

wow 15% is pretty low. But I do use it a lot for messaging and online stuff and navigation. SO its not suprising that I use so much. Still I went almost 12 and used 80-85% of my battery only. So not to bad.

I only find auto brightness annoying when I accidentally hold my finger over the photo sensor and it dims a bit, but it's nice when viewing at night when it auto dims as I walk outside.

And actually I've used it alot today with navagation and yelp and email and such...display is only 39%. I have got used to relocking the phone when I'm done instead of it waiting the 2 mins to timeout.

hmm maybe I will try it out more. On a side not, how are you accessing Yelp?

i find the auto-brightness to be annoying as well. i set my display at almost the lowest level, and 1 minute time-out. today the display accounts for 29% of battery usage.

btw, where is the photo sensor?

Holding the phone upright (portrait) it in the upper right, set auto brightness and then hold your thumb over that corner and you'll see it auto dim.

The photo sensor is in the top right corner by the LED... Look at things very closely with different reflecting lights and you should be able to see it.

oh wait. i think i see it. but it's on the upper left, on the other side of the ear-speaker as the led. unless that's something else?

wait i do see it! just had to clean all the grease off the screen haha.

so now, where is the glowing red droid eye? i was under the impression that there would be a glowing red droid eye.
