Go to

Settings >network>mobile network>metro only

Then dial *228 and say "roaming" . Ur prl should update automatically and stop that from happening. Well atleast for me it did and I had the same problem.

Well I figured it out it because T-Mobile was switching towers around

fix:
HTML:
br
#1 - call metropcs ( 888-863-8768, then about 4 #'s then hit '1')
HTML:
br

#2 - get them to 'refresh' tele
HTML:
br
#3 - fixed
HTML:
br
i had same issues....once 'refreshed' and about 15 mins, problem went away.

I have the same problem but calling them did not fix it!!!! My phone is fried... I am on vv3 but I keep getting this error every 7 seconds. It says "Sorry! The process com.android.phone has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again!" I think I have lost my 4G settings or something. I can turn off the 4G using an app called 4G Toggle and switch it to CDMA only and the error stops but then I only get "EV"... I have tried flashing vv3 over and over but I still get that same damn error (with vv3). I then flashed it using vv5 and it works and I flashed it using zva and it works but flashing vv3 (which I can root and which I need) or vv4 and I get that damn error. Been messing with this for about 15 hours now. This error just popped up about 2 days ago but 3 days before that I had installed Rocket Dialer but I took that off and it ran fine for like 2 days, then boom! I have this error constantly popping up! Ahhhhh! I am at a loss! THIS SUCKS GUYS!

This happened to me also, i had to go in and they were trying to reprogram my phone and couldn't, or didn't try hard enough. Well they just ended up giving me a new phone.

""When T-mobile and Metro PCS merge they did a overnight system update, the next morning my phone could not connect to data network and would crash at the moment of 4g network connection (force close).
Called metro pcs, they tried reprogramming but could not because it would force close while trying to connect to *228. They instructed me to do a hard reset, and it did not work. I went to the Metro PCS Corporate store in Allen, TX. They said that their machine would do an update required for the merging of networks (metro and t-mobile) they mentioned that many phones did not update completely and people had to come in and get it done, and that some LG Connect 4G got bricked in the process and actually had to give them a new phone.. which i was one of them..
My phone was rooted before, so i could removed bloatwear and do wifi tether, but after hard resetting i figured they would know.. still not sure if they do, but they did a manufactures warranty to give me a new one..
I received the phone i want to say June 7th, 2013. And i think there is still no root for the new update..
I never downgraded before, but i dont know if it would affect the update for the merging of networks.. since the IT guy there said that the update was due to the fact that the two companies where merging im not sure if downgrading will affect data connection in any way Im any iffy about it..""
Any one have a clue on whats going on with that?

Go ahead and give it a try, you can always go back to vv5 if you still get that same error. I am very curious to see if it will work cause it looks like I am going to have to do the same thing you did. Keep us posted please!

You will have to use this guide (http://androidforums.com/connect-4g-all-things-root/695800-unbrick-unroot-update-lg-connect.html) to go from vv5 to vv3 (vv3 is the only one that can be rooted) but if vv3 does not work for you then you can go back to vv5. The only ones that I could use that got rid of that error was zva and vv5 so I would love to see what you get. Looks like Metro has figured out a way to screw us out of having our phones Rooted. Now someone somewhere is going to have to figure out how to root vv5..... just effin' great, just great!!!!

Thanks Metro PCS! YOU SUCK!!!! Bunch of Corporate HACKS!!!!! Finally figured out a way to screw us out of Root! Man y'all SUCK!

How long have you had your Connect before this happened? Was it over a year? Mine is over a year old and when I take it in I am thinking that they are going to try and charge me a $100 bucks for a new phone (I took out the insurance and I am like 2 weeks past my 1 year warranty). If they try and charge me money I am afraid I will have to cuss them out because this problem is something that they did, not me/us!

Well it looks like LG has changed the .cab files on their site. They can't be encrypted or decrypted now.... Good thing I kept my old ones because they still work...

Man, this really blows!!!!

Are you serious thank god i didnt delete my copys

Yesterday (I actually saw the email ON A METRO PCS EMPLOYEE'S screen) states that basically, there is NO FIX for the LG Connect and the phone app crash. Here in Atlanta, a mid-level big wig has authorized a swap-out of the Connect to a Motion. Now, THAT SUX! I paid, at the SAME time, 300 for the Connect and 150 for the Motion. They are DOWNGRADING people to the Motion. There are NO OTHER OPTIONS from them except use your Connect-less phone. No credits, upgrades, etc. I got mine yesterday and the WI-FI FAILS to connect (SW Rev F) though my wife's Motion (SW Rev C) connects just fine. As a LOT of us have been SCREWED by Metro PCS, i am contacting a 'Consumer Fraud' attorney today to see about starting some legal action against Metro PCS. THEY have the problems, so WE PAY FOR THEM! This is just WRONG! So, if you go to a corp store, let them know that the corp stores in Atlanta are doing a swap-out with a Motion. Do note, even though the phone will be a new one, if you had 2 months left on your Connect warranty, you will ONLY have TWO months on the NEW ONE!!! LG will still have their 1 yr...though you're talking about an approx 30 day turn-around. If your interested in possible recovery of your $150 and any extras you bought for your Connect, let me know, as i stated, i am contacting an attorney on this! Also, if you have rooted you phone, make SURE you run LG's Support tools and then run the 'recovery' option BEFORE you take it in! This will make all the 'bad things' go bye-bye! ;) :)

Man, that really sucks! I went back to the zva firmware and so far it's working great! We just need to find a way to root vv5 cause the zva version is a battery hog :-(

Hate to tell ya...that was what I had....also had the MS840 NOT the MS840V.

It will work off and on. All you have to do it this:

1- Turn off Wi-Fi
2 - Turn off Data
3 - Turn Data Back On
4 - Fail

You might have to repeat the data off/on twice. It WILL fail.

And the VV5 is for the ESTEEM, NOT for the Connect, the store employee showed me the dox they got to do 'the fix', which does not work. This might explain why the root fix will not work on it...it's an Esteem OS! ;)

It IS a SW problem though.

Something for ALL of MetroPCS customer's to think about; they made a 'mistake', and they now want US to PAY FOR IT! The 'Connect' people are getting it today, YOU maybe tomorrow! This is why I am seeking legal help. I do not like being screwed.

ZVA works great for me, I also tried the vv5 and that worked great. I have the plain ms840.

Sue them, do a class action.... I'm all for it. ;-)

ATTENTION!

In the Atlanta market they are swapping out the LG Connects due to not working!

NOTHING WORKS! NO SETTINGS, NO OTHER ROMS, NOTHING!

Go to a corporate store and get yours swapped!

Do NOT waste your time!

I'm in Marietta and my zva firmware works great, vv3,vv4 doesn't work but vv5 does but it's not rooted yet.

What are they trading it for?

as i said before, you are the ONLY one who has a working one...i had the zva, and the vv? is NOT for the Connect, it is for the Esteem. i went and got a BRAND new one monday soon as they got it far enough along, disable data, re-enable, POOF...gone...right in their corp store in marietta... 2 weeks ago, they gave me a LG Motion....yeah right.... ;)

Yes that is a rip off! Even though vv5 is for the esteem it still works on the connect, I tried it and it worked great.

I'm pretty sure when u install this firmware post it says MS840 its for the connect if it wasnt BRICK WHEN TRY TO INSTALL

Dude, VV5 is for the Connect. Ask PlayfulGod. MetroPCS employees can say whatever they want. They never know anything.

Could there possibly be a firmware lurking called VV5 that was in fact made for the Esteem? Yes. But the one posted here in the forums is for the Connect.

All i can tell you is this: a metropcs clerk handed me a print-out from the metrpcs tech department. it stated CLEARLY: #1 - that the store people are to hook-up the cell to the ?cellbrite? machine #2 - naviagate to the lg esteem location #3 - push out the VV5 version of the Esteem ROM to the Connect now, YOU go argue with them. i am merely reporting what i HAD IN MY HAND and READ. and i am a pc tech for 28+ yrs...i am NOT some 'noob'. the reason i even had it was because the dumb clerk said we could do this from home, till i read the directions and i told him that this cannot be done from home and he took it back. second thing, if it WORKS...WHY did i READ the ACTUAL email from the atlanta customer service dept stating that they have NO CLUE on how to fix this??? AND they authorize phone swap-outs???? say what you want...my Connect and about 15 other people's did not work either, and some of them DID have the vv5, they were getting put on while i was THERE...after that, we ALL got NEW phones (another model). there maybe TWO vv5's...metropcs is pushing out the ESTEEM rom...in hopes that it will work, and that is dangerous, as they are NOT the same.... all i know is the esteem vv5 being pushed out (at least 2 weeks ago) by metropcs does not work and i have a BRAND NEW phone now.... ;)
