Hey all,

An app has been released, which is in beta phase at the moment, that supports AVI, MKV, DIVX and RMVB file formats.

This certainly seems to work on the NexusOne and Desire, has anyone tried it with the Legend?

I tried it with a Legend last night and it would play nothing. It searched the SD card for movies, saw the divX movie, tried to play it, then just switched back to the sd card browser. Tried it with a few different divX files, an avi file and even a 3.gp file and it didn't play any of them.

maybe I'm not doing something right ?

I've read a few comments that suggest it *needs* a SnapDragon processor, in which case, we're a little screwed.

I still haven't had the chance to grab it and therefore not tested.

Anyone else?

Don't worry guys, I contacted the developer and he said the next version will support the HTC Legend.

Works almost flawlessly, sometimes a little hickup. But I suspect performance will improve with new beta's?

I've downloaded the new beta file, unzipped it and put it on my phones SD card about five times and not once has my app installer found any apps on the SD card.

What am I doing wrong ?

Unzipped it? It's not zipped, it's an APK file. There's nothing to extract.

That is odd, because I've downloaded it on two different PC's and both times it's come down the pipe as a zipped file ?

I'm confusicated.

You can extract .apk files, but you mustn't do that .

Thanks. I successfully installed and added 2 files. However, when i tried to play the .avi movie on my Legend, it still didn't work. not sure why.

I tried it with YX Player and it works. But YX player isn't free. I am using the trial version.

I found the quality of XYPlayer much lower than RockBasePlayer and its paid for.

I found rockplayer on the Market, downloaded it and it works perfectly. The free version has an "R" in the top left corner but it's hardly an issue, it's no worse that a channel logo.

Woo Hoo! No lip sync issues either, this will do until 2.2. arrives

I think mine was "AMR 7" or something...

I previously got ARMV6_VFP 1.0.31 from the developer's official website: [http://rockplayer.freecoder.org/index_en.html] as it suggested that is the version that is supported for the Legend.

However, if ARMV7 1.0.31 works just fine, as you say, I'll give that a go .

ARMV6_VFP is optimised for the HTC Legend, other versions might work but in theory the frame rates will be lower.

I've tested a MP4 video with all versions, with no luck.

The audio plays fine but with a black/empty screen.

It may be the format of the file itself, as the file was ripped straight from a mini HD cam.

It would be nice to be able to play HD movies on the Legend. Any ideas if/when HTC has plans on making an update available for this instead of us having to download apps like this one which normally don't work?
