Help DIY glass screen replacement?

Cracked my phone a couple of days ago. I am considering doing the replacement my self. I saw a couple of YouTube videos on the subjects and its a bit scary to me.
Does any one here have hands on experience replacing the digitizer?

what I don't get is, the phone is still working fine, cracks and all...

I have recently successfully replaced the digitizer on my ATRIX, I can't say it was a fun endeavor, none the less it is fixed. Like you, I watched some videos on YouTube and ordered my parts from Repair Universe who was one of the YouTube video contributors.

The take apart was a little scary especially when you get to the flex cables under the battery, the whole thing didn't seem right while I was taking it apart. I just kept following the instructions.

I was not a fan of the 3M double-sided adhesive strips, I custom cut everything but just seems like I occasionally have to keep pressing it around the edges.

There are some custom ATRIX strips available on ebay from some place in China that may be worth a try. Have a can of air handy to try and keep it dust free during re-assembly.

Because I have taken apart once and worked it is easy enough to re-take apart. I'm going to try the custom adhesive from ebay but thinking that a regular adhesive for this and a proper curing process may have best results.

Hope this helps.

Thanks!!! that really helped..

I was considering replacing this phone and getting an Atrix 2, mostly for the ICS upgrade path. But now that Moto announced that the 4G will get ICS (the same time as the Atrix 2!), repairing my phone makes more sense.

I think I'm going to give it a try.

Thanks again!
