Root Dk28 and ext-4?

I have the evo but my boy has the epic so trying to get him up on the latest roms ect. Anyway I rooted him but then I saw u need to update to dk28 ext-4 for latest quantum rom and didnt have time to read up. Anyway can somebody link me to the files needed and a tutorial on the easiest way to do this?

Also not sure what hes on (I'm guessing stock since he just got the phone 1-2 months ago and dont think he did anything)

it uses Odin to flash the new modem... sorry i couldn't find the instructions, it isn't hard, but you need to know what to do. after downloading the files, 'extract' them, and then there are actually some further instrcutions here, in the 2nd post:

also, in order to flash any ext4 rom, you will need to root with this method, which will install Clockwork 3.0.0.5(not sure if you rooted this way yet or not):

after that, you'll be ready to flash Quantum ext4. let us know how you get along with this, and we'll try to help if you have questions
