Please Dumb it down for me
It's a protocol for streaming media (video, audio, photos) over a network. Generally you need some kind of server (DMS, which the X has) and a client player (DMP, which the X has).
Motorola did a crappy job supporting codecs though. Personally I have a Windows Home Server with Twonky installed on it, so that's my server. As far as clients I have a samsung tv and blu ray player as well as a google tv box. They all work great as clients as they support just about all the codecs that DLNA does. My X doesn't not support enough codecs, neither does my Xoom. Neither Motorola device supports high profile codecs either, which I believe is an android limitation currently.
