do I have to unroot?

I think i'm going to make the jump from Hero to Evo before the new Premier plan kicks in and I lose my 1yr upgrade ability to do so.

My question is: if I go to my local Sprint shop with a rooted phone running CM6 will that cause any problems? Do I need to revert back to official rom and unroot before I go in?

Thanks

I wouldn't think they would care. Why would they? You keep your old phone, right?

Ya I was going to keep the Hero this time... but when i upgraded in the past they always take the current phone in the back to transfer data and I wasn't sure if running CM6 would cause a problem.

Ah, I understand. With Android/Google, all your contacts will be on the new phone when you log in with your Gmail login. They don't need the old phone to do this! :D

ok cool... I thought so, but I'm just being overly paranoid I guess... otherwise I don't really have any data that would need to be transferred ... just wallpaper and ringtones, but I can do that myself.

so basically they should just activate and give me the new phone?

haha definately... with the new premier rules starting looks like i'll be using the Evo until Jan 2013 at least... It may even be my last phone if the Mayan's were right :)

Yeah, you shouldn't have any problems with the rooted phone. They shouldn't even have to see the Hero since you will be leaving with a new phone.

Wait - does the new premier plan not Grandfather you in if you were a part of the oldone.
My sprint rep said it did?

ah yes, the new premier plan. Just another way for Sprint to weasel their way in deeper to our pockets.

Anyways, I'm getting my new Shift in a couple of days. I'm gonna miss these forums. But, I'll still be using my Hero for fun.

If you are eligible for an upgrade before April 1st because it was your one year mark with the Sprint Premier program and you do not meet the dollar amount criteria for the Gold plan, then you will lose that upgrade. :(

I became eligible on February 3rd. I now have until the end of this month to decide to upgrade or just wait, lose my upgrade on April 1st, and then become eligible again in December after 22 months has elapsed.
