Help Do I need to connect to Mobile Network to send picture text?

Hi all. On the evo, do I need to be connected to mobile network to send a text with a picture attached?

I'm able to send texts without mobile network, but just seeing if it's possible to send an image through text without connecting?

I believe the answer to that is, yes, you do need to be connected to some sort of data network.

Thank you for replying. Curious, why would my old AT&T Blackjack phone receive picture messages, even though I didn't have internet on that phone then?

It has some form of internet, even though you cant use it to browse the web or whatever.
