Root Do I want the 4.24.651.1 update? I'm rooted.

I rooted over the weekend using the revolutionary root that came out for 2.3.3. I received an update from sprint today for software version 4.24.651.1, do I want to download it? Can I still be rooted with that version? Will I have to re run the root?

No don't do the update, it will make you lose root and or just break your phone. Go over to xda and find a ROM with the update built in and flash the ROM if you really want it. Whatever you do though, don't accept the update from Sprint.

EDIT: To make sure you never accept an update from Sprint go to your settings>software update>and then I think it is HTC update or something like that, it should have an option to not automatically check for updates.

Is this a new update?
I really can't see them getting a maintenance update to close root that fast.

Well then theoretically he could update then reroot since Revolutionary can root in GB with the updated hboot. That said it seems like a giant waste of time since Netflix and GB are more stable in the GB ROMS anyways :)

It would take more time to unroot then update then reroot than it would to download and flash the stock rooted rom for 4.24. Only a couple of things changed and can be acquired by flashing the rooted version.

plus all of them roms out now have the 4.24 maintenance ota cooked into the rom. so you could just pick a rom like mig2.5 and flash it and you just got updated.:)

I wanted the update because for some reason when I rooted my phone went back to 2.2.

I would flash MikG 2.5 and call it a day. It is based on the 4.24 release but has Sense 2.1 included which will not officially come to the Evo. You will not regret flashing it.
