Do magnets affect bionic like the D1??

I had to take back a magnetic clasp'd case for my D1, because magnets put it into docking station mode. So, it'd go in and out of docking station constantly while in the case, running the battery down.

Do we know if the Bionic works the same way??

Or, is it safe to get a case/holster with a magnetic clasp for the new Bionic??

Anyone know??

While I don't know for certain about the Bionic, the vast majority of Android phones use a magnet for detecting the car dock. It is probably safe to assume the Bionic will as well.

Probably will. How stupid is it to use a magnet!? The compass doesn't work when in the dock which is mostly when you navigate! come to a stop and you immediately point somewhere else.

Wouldn't you use GPS to navigate? Last time I checked, satellites aren't effected by magnets....

Works fine while you are moving but stop to get your bearings and the compass kicks in (incorrectly). Try it some time.

Why would I need to know what direction I am pointed in the first place? I would be able to see where I am at, the path I am taking, and on top of that, 90% of the cars around today have compass in them too.

I would rather have a magnet to switch my phone to car mode than to have to go in the app drawer and select it every time. Its an unnecessary step.

I've used Android Navigation for many a trip - it has never changed the direction incorrectly when I am stopped.
