Do most people buy a bigger micro SD?

I recently bought my Optimus v, and i noticed that i already have half a gig of memory used up on my SD just from a few songs, pictures, and some apps. How many gigs are needed for a good number of apps, music, and pictures?

Also, does putting stuff on the phone's memory slow it down?

Thanks

If you use allot of music photos and things you should. Moving to SD doesn't slow performance. Some root in order to run apps totally from SD. I have gone from the 2 to the 4 and now the 8 and I'm not rooted. That's just from normal use.

So lets say i want 500 or so songs, 100 photos, and a bunch of apps, would 4GB be enough, or is 8gb better.

Also, what is the purpose of the micro Sd card adapter that comes with the phone?

The price difference up to 16 gb isnt huge, 16 gb card gives you LOTS of space, I have most (not all) of my music collection on my sd card and 1 gig allocated for link2sd for apps (a large number with tons more space). For $25 you can get a 16 gig card. Going to 32 gb, now thats a jump in price. Of course just my opinion. I think the card that comes with the phone is a nice perk, but undersized if you plan to use your phone for multipurpose (music, apps, etc).

I got a 16MB PNY card (class 4), and it works great. I'll be putting it in a newer phone.

It's up to you and want you want on your phone. I've currently got a 4GB PNY class 4 card that I snapped up at Staples when they were selling them for $10(about the same price as mail order + shiping for once) and it's nice to have a bit of extra space. Once I find a good deal on 8GB class 6(or better) cards I'll be buying a bunch of those for all of my devices. Extra storage never hurts.

...and no, no slow down unless you buy a dodgy card...

I've upgraded to a 16 gig card as I slowly move towards using my Optimus for music. It's hard to break the iPod habit. I found that using my phone for GPS and iPod for music on bike rides was just too much.

I'm using PowerAMP and am very happy with it. Controls on the lock screen plus EQ and seperate Bass/Treble knobs make it so much better than the Apple player. No probs with battery drain, either.

i had a 4GB card from my old Versa phone but i recently upgraded to a 16GB card. 4GB was getting full after the music, ROM backups, and other misc crap i keep on it. For most users 2GB is plenty

Had the phone about 2 weeks before I swapped out the 2GB card for the 4GB card that I'd actually bought for my old phone and never really used. This was back in March, still have plenty of space on it. Don't use it for music (I store all that on Amazon's cloud drive and access that way); mostly just move whatever apps are movable to it, as well as store several videos on it. Just finished playing back Part 2 of last Saturday's Doctor Who on it. Awesome.

Nice to have a little more elbow room than just on the card they include. :) If I hadn't already had the 4GB card, would have bought something bigger and used that instead, but since I already had the 4gb, and haven't had any space issues with it yet, I've stuck with that.

With the micro sd in the adapter you can read, copy to or back up the micro in any laptop or netbook that has card slots, or in any card reader that accepts SD cards.

For advanced users: If you are about to drop the micro sd, quickly put it into the adapter and it will be easier to find.

Just upgraded to a 16gb and was able to copy all the files over to the new card and everything WORKED!!!!! Boy was I surprised! :D

Popped my new 16MB PNY Class 4 Card into my Optimus today and it worked like a charm! I wanted to put it in the phone first to let it format it the way the Android system handles it.

Afterwards, I put it in the MicroSD adapter, and put in my pc so I could transfer all my music and video files. Looks its formatted in the FAT32 file system.

Popped it back in the phone, and VOILA, all the music loaded under the MUSIC app, and the video's appeared in the GALLERY!

That's ALOT of freaking media I can put on that card!

Just bought an 8gb for my Optimus V, mostly for pictures and music. Problem is, after downloading music, unless I dismount the sd card a selection from the library will start playing by itself after 10 or 15 minutes. Whats up with that??
