Root DO NOT attempt to install the ics OTA if you are rooted

I'm caught in an OTA update loop with my T-bolt. My phone is ICS, rooted and has the non-stock recovery on it.

Is there a copy of a stock recovery somewhere that so that I can flash, unroot, OTA, and thereby get out of the 7th circle?

id advise against trying to OTA. it will be much easier to just flash a stock rom with the updates cooked in.

wiping the cache and dalvik cache should stop the bootloops. then download one of the roms from here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2136273

since youre on ICS now,you should be able to "dirty flash" the rom without a data wipe and not lose your data. :)

The loops have stopped.

But I'm S-on, which will probably be a problem

if you have a custom recovery, you can flash roms. with s-on,youll just need to flash the boot image manually.

another option would be to follow the directions here to downgrade and go ahead and become s off:

if your rom is completely stock, except for root access,i can pull the ICS recovery and upload it. it will be a couple hours

No, I don't think I'm completely stock. There was at least one app that I could not get back on, so please don't spend your time on it. Thanx.

it is no prollem for me to upload it,its on my PC allready. the questions is wether it will work or not. if the ota fails, the result may be anything from a harmless failure,to a difficult-to-impossible-to-recover-from soft brick. i would hate to see your phone in an unusable state

do you have a backup of your stock rom prior to mods?

option #1 is to install the rom, using fastboot to install the boot image. the prollem with this is that since you are s on,you cannot install the new baseband.

option #2 is to follow the downgrade directions and become s off. then future dealings with OTAs will be a lil easier, since you can easily install the rom and new firmware.

option #3 is to follow the downgrade directions(since youre allready unlocked and have a recovery, just do steps 2 and 3),but instead of becoming s off, simply stop at step 4 and use an unrooted phone untill it OTAs all the way to the current 7.02.605.10 build. at that point you can re-unlock if you wish, and install root access.

if you chose option 3,consider leaving your stock recovery in place. boot recovery with:

fastboot boot recoveryname.img

use the booted recovery to install superuser, and make sure you make a backup of the unmolested rom this time ;)

I have backups! :D

I'm temped by #1. I don't know if the baseband changed. The radios have the same version numbers as the screenshot of the new OTA posted in an adjacent forum.

When you say "rom" in #1, do you mean the backup? The backup I have is a TWRP.

Minor otas won't always include a radio. I hadn't checked that far into it,so if the baseband didnt change, then simply installing the Rom seems like the best way to go :)

When you say "rom" in #1, do you mean the TWRP backup I have? The backup I have does not include the stock recovery (facepalm). So I think that that one is out.

I have learned. my. lesson.

Okay, I'm going back to downgrade the phone but the "fastboot getvar mainver" does not return a value. Will I have to go S-off to continue or can I proceed?

One last question.

No... I mean the xda Rom linked in post #26 ;)
