Do not use peep!

This works! Do it!

I received my Hero around early January and still witnessed increase transition speed. Also sped up while on the net (pinch to zoom a little quicker and smoother)

Log out of peep then go settings > applications > clear data/cache and force stop

Thanks again...now just waiting patiently for my 2.1 UPDATE! :D
 
I have been using peep for a while and just recently switched to Seesmic. I followed the steps on this thread and I too am noticing a positive difference in the performance of the phone. Thanks for the info.
 
I have also eliminated Peep. I switched to Touiteur for now. No widget (except for premium, but all the reviews say the widget stinks), but not a huge deal. Could be the placebo effect, but seems a little better. definitely freed up some space.

I've also eliminated some other "garbage" that I really wasn't using, so that could be it too.
 
That bluetooth shortcut is neat. Does turning bluetooth off when not in use save on battery time. I use bluetooth all the time when out. But when at home I turn my headet off but the bluetooth on the phone is left on. Thatnk, TC
 
I use Peep all the time. I will try this out and disable the Peep. Im going to give this a shot. What Twitter app has a Widget?
 
my fellow GEEKS! Force Closing Peep seems to make the phone move a lot faster. Its only been about 15 minutes so I will report back. Im actually trying to find a replacement. Is Twicca on 1.5 because I can't find it in the market.
 
Even tho I find the phone to run faster without Peep. I am logging back in. I can't find a better Twitter app. Something will have to give. Im Tweeting all day long.

Even though there is no widget (except on premium, but the reviews aren't favorable at the moment for the widget), I really like Toiteur (sp?). After test driving a bunch last night, it's really amazing how limited Peep is in its functionality. I suppose that is just a function of it being an early adaptation of a Twitter app. I suspect it will have added features once 2.1 is released.

I disabled Peep and I noticed an improvement with the overall performance of the phone. Apparently it causes major issues which results in poor performance and lag. Be sure to log out of the application! Then force stop it under settings --> applications. Then never open it again! I noticed a great difference in performance. I hope this helps everyone here. Oh and be sure not to use the HTC twitter widget either! That widget is linked to Peep.

Does keeping the buetooth on the phone turned off when not using the bluetooth increase battery time?

Yes, leaving Bluetooth on when not in use will drain your battery life. Turning it off when not in use will increase your battery life.

You might try Tweetcaster. It was highly recommended to me and I am running it now. So far, I like it.
 
I don't think I have ever had any problems with Peep, that said I didn't try it out on a pre release phone. I doubt this is very relevant today. Of course if you just want something better than Peep, the only thing I found that I liked as much is the official Twitter client. It rocks!
 
The new DC 2.08.1 rom has friend stream. That has both twitter and facebook widgets combined. Is peep linked to that?
 
Yea I doubt there is really much issue with it today, I'm not much on twitter but I do use peep to follow espn and several other sporting pages....no issues that I can really notice with it.

i rooted last night and deleted all that and more. worth it
 
Seesmic - PERIOD. I tweet A LOT for work and oversee multiple accounts. I have tried and purchased (when necessary) every Twitter app available on the Market, and Seesmic wins hands down. The customization is incredible. Could easily be a paid app.
