Do we really need Anti-Virus?

AVG has it for free. Anyone use for their XPlay? I'm thinking it might slow my phone.

I use lookout. I think its completey nessary with the malware. Better safe than sorry.

yep, you can use the phone locator with the free version. i've used it a few times when i misplaced my phone at work. it's a pretty big place.

lookout works but you have to turn on the gps to locate....drains my battery fast. i hope there is something you dont need to turn on the gps or that can remotely turn on the gps on demand.

Android is based on Linux and there aren't any active Linux viruses around. That's not to say that apps like Lookout aren't effective.. but an app that is solely anti-virus is a waste of time.

I deleted lookout and my phone has beeen of the charger for about 4hours with 70percent withh a little browsing, a lot of music.. not bad.

I don't think you really need one so long as you're careful about what you download and use a bit of common sense.
