Do we really need screen protectors?

I put screen protectors on all my gadgets (Note 2, iPhone, iPad etc) It is for peace of mind however it is also to protect against those certain times where you put it in your pocket with your keys or throw it in your bag or whatever. My previous iPhone 4 had a screen protector on it and after two years of use, there were numerous scratches on the protector that would've scratched the screen had the protector not been on there. In addition to peace of mind, it's also good for resale value as well since I ditch my phones every two years. For something that you can get for pennies, I find it of great value in maintaining and protecting my phone. The current protector i have now on my Note 2 has some scratches already and I've only had it for a couple weeks now.

For all those who dont like plastic but still want protection, (I mean its kinda nice to know IF it gets scratched you can peel something off and the scratches will no longer be there) try this glass one when it finally comes out.

Fighting about screen protectors really is moot- no point to it.
This is one of those subjects where agreeing to disagree comes to mind.
Screen protectors are a personal choice.

I just don't like them though. I haven't used one in years. Never had an incident with scratched glass either.

I've never use a screen protector on a phone and I will probably never need one. Im always careful with my phone and throughout the years, has never have an issue. I don't like screen protectors because I feel they just take away the quality of the phone.

I fitted a protector and within a week I had an accident when I nearly dropped the phone while plugging the charger in, it left a nasty scratch on the protector and I gave off a sigh of relief. I can hardly notice the protector on it, sure I would like to have the full beauty of that screen in my face but I think I will leave the protector on for now.

I've put my phone in a pocket forgetting there were a few coins or keys a time or two, and am glad I ALWAYS use screen protectors. All glass scratches, and after a few years any glass is going to have at least small scratches if you look close.

And let's face it, having a pristine screen goes a long way when you go to sell your phone. I always case and screen protect mine, and get top dollar on ebay each time I sell one because of it. My 4S is on there right now, and looks as good as the day it came out of the box when they were released. It is already bid high enough to pay for my N2 and accessories and there's a day left on the auction.

I buy 3 cheap ones. If I install one of them perfectly I will leave it on. Problem is they will get scratched and you need to replace them every so often. It is a nice peace of mind that the screen is fully covered and god forbid you drop it.

Right now I am going totally naked with my T-Bolt.

I remember when this happened.
I've had mine off for about 2 weeks now and the clarity w/O a screen protector is amazing.
My ultra crystal developed a tear that resembled the screen having a crack.
I took that one off and gave the other away.
Haven't missed it yet.

i don't use a protector because I suck at putting them on. Always a friggin bubble here... a dust speck there.

I put a Steinheil oleophobic screen protector on my NII the other day. It's the first time I've used a screen protector since using a Palm Pilot PDA. The oleo is great, it's crystal clear and doesn't affect the movement of the S-Pen. It was also was easy to install. It took about 10 minutes with no bubbles or dust specks underneath. I would recommend it to everyone with a NII

I think $15 is fair deal for peace of mind. Also, it's not the my keys or spare change that I'm worried about. It's the dirt, sand, cat litter and other things that have scratched my Gorilla Glass devices in the past.
