Exactly, and with all the different religions on earth claiming to be the one true religion, isn't it a bit unfair to send someone to Hell just because they follow the 'wrong' religion. I mean, they were only honouring thy father and thy mother by following the religion they were brought up to believe in, right?

But we won't, that's the thing. Don't just ignore what we've said and act smugly superior. I'm never going to pray on my deathbed or in a crisis. And why should it be to your God, why not Buddha or Allah?

I just stated the way I felt.. so how am I acting smugly superior? I didn't ignore anything, I just chose not to acknowledge it.. Maybe the reason u thought I was acting like that is cause I may have hit a nerve and u had a shred of doubt in your theory?
What I'm finding humorous about this is, I could care less what religion any of you believe. It don't matter to me if you pray to God, any God, I don't care if u worship a pile of poo in your yard or if you don't believe in anything or pray at all. And its not for me to judge any of you, I was just stating what I was taught when I was little. But some of you are getting all uptight about it.. So, if you are, maybe you should check yourself.

I don't care about your religion, you're welcome to believe whatever you want, same as everybody else. However, you clearly care about everyone else's business, despite what you say, because earlier in the thread you were telling us how we're going to hell.

Here's the thing though, being raised in a Christian home, being sent to a catholic school, I got to know the bible very well. It is then I realized how arcane and insane it is.

According to the bible, god's word, if you have any sin, you won't enter the gates of heaven.

So if your married and you see a hot girl/guy, and you think, "well she's cute"

That's adultery, no heaven for you.

You see a car/phone/house you want.... no heaven for you.

You tell a lie... no heaven for you.

You masterbate... no heaven for you.

Premarital sex? No heaven for you.

Hate someone? No heaven for you.

The list goes on.. it's damn near impossible, and the only way to absolve your sins is by asking for forgiveness.. which the instant your done asking, the VERY INSTANT, your riddled with "sin" again, therefore, no heaven for you. Why would someone choose to believe that?

Exactly why people don't go to church and are scared off. That's the age old "fire and brimstone" tactic used by churches all over. Believe in god or you'll burn. Of course there is absolutely zero scientific proof of a god. I was raised in church...then finally I broke away when I started really thinking about things in a "common sense" sort of way.

What if heaven is really hell and the god you believe in is tricking you? Oh snap

I believe in some form of "higher power", be it karma or whatever, but I don't believe in it being personified into a person or persons... by that standard, though, I believe everyone has the right to believe what they wish and to follow those beliefs in any way.

We all believe what we believe and it is going to be pretty hard for anyone on an internet forum to change that.

If you believe in God then there is nothing wrong with that for you.
If you do not believe in God then there is nothing wrong with that for you.
In the end, what you choose to believe is all on you.

Nobody should be putting anyone else down or attacking them about their beliefs.

I'm not trying to change anyones mind, I just stated that I personally believe that there is no God, and why I believe that. And there's nothing wrong with the ol' deathbed conversion, it's been a staple throughout time! Live a life of sin (sex, drugs, rock 'n roll; you know, all the fun stuff!), then on your deathbed, convert. That way, if I'm wrong and there is a God, I get into Heaven anyways, score! And if I'm right and there is no God, then it doesn't matter, I had my fun while I was alive instead of putting it off until after I died. It's a classic win-win situation!
