Do you even bother using face unlock?

I think it is a very impressive feature, but I like to have instant use of camera, notetaking, texting, etc. I don't like to have to hold the phone up fo my face, especially in low lighting. It would be nice if there was some quick way of setting it in and out of face unlock mode, but for now, I don't use any unlocking.

When i got the phone, that's all people wanted to see, and we were all amazed. Now, show's over, and it's back to work lol

Face unlock is more of a novelty now. If it were faster and more accurate, it would be a real feature. but sometimes it takes too long for the camera to fire up to be useful (i.e. it takes longer than just swiping).

However, I guess it does come in handy as an alternative to entering a pin everytime you want to unlock the phone.

Also really nice if you want to keep a snoopy GF off your phone. The only thing is you can't fall asleep, or she can just hold it up to your face while you are sleeping.

+1

I thought about it but wondered how it would react if I shaved off or grew facial hair; I'd guess there's a backup way of gaining access but I just didn't want to bother with it.

It's actually pretty good about stuff like facial hair. And when you set up face unlock, it also has you set up a back up manual unlock code. Which you will enter when face unlock fails.

I tried it out once, but found it annoying despite its accuracy in detecting my face.

Face unlock is Android's Siri. Looks cool in commercials, but it's not very practical in real world use.

If they work to update and improve this feature to be faster, more accurate and work better in different lighting conditions I'll be back in. As of now it"s just too inconsistent.

You know you can go back in and improve face matching, different lighting, different facial hair and glasses.

Works a lot more accurately when done but i still dont use it

I definately agree with all this!
However, (off the subject, but) have you tried Vlingo? It's like Android's Siri, but way better. And it has a beta car version that is amazing! Voice activated, open apps, send text, navi, fb update, often without even having to touch or look at the phone.

Used it a few times when I got it then turned it off. It wasn't because it didn't work I just didn't really see the point.

Its a good gimmick/selling point though.

I used it the first day when I was setting up my phone. It actually worked EXTREMELY well for me. I stopped using it though because when I want to unlock my phone at night or in low to no light situations, I don't want to have to wait for face unlock to fail and THEN do the pin. Too much time wasted.

I tried it out a few months back and it felt incomplete back then. Perhaps it's been improved since then. Either way, I'm sure there are people out there who use voice-to-text and voice commands, I just personally find it to be more trouble than it's worth.

theres a little button that looks like a lock where you can tap on that and it brings up the pin/pattern right away without waiting.

It's very fast, and works very well. I heard that after you set it up you can also store more images of you face, ie if you shave your beard or have glasses on.

On that note, it was fun. I'd rather just swipe to get access.

It's true with that, it rarely fails to unlock it for me. It usually takes less than a second

I was showing off to my iPhail friend the other day at the bar. Dark room, pretty poor lighting. I got up to use the restroom, came back and he was on my phone. He simply changed his facial expression and tricked it. He also looks nothing like me. After that, I will never use it again.

That's odd my phone denies everybody. I like it because as someone mentioned it keeps my nosey gf out of my phone. Because when I use the pattern she somehow always sees it.
