Do you have a tip/trick for ICS? Post it here.

some people mentioned they were looking for COOL apps. I noticed one of my favorites were not posted.

"Wheres my Droid"

I install this on my wife's, kids, and my phone first.

It allows you to text "wheres my droid" to your phone number from any phone, and it will turn the volume all the way up, and ring for 5 minutes straight (or until you stop it on the phone when you find it in the couch)

You can create your own message to type in.

ENJOY!!!

Thanks that reminded me to load lookout back onto my phone.

I recommend the app SwipePad to everyone. Eliminates the need to go through your app drawer to find frequently used apps without having shortcuts take up all your homescreen space for widgets. They recently added ICS support.

Thank you. Just tried Lookout and I love it. Exactly what I was looking for as far as multi-use goes. Can't stand having 5 different apps that all do similar stuff, but one has a better backup and the other has a better locator, etc.. glad to have it all in one now. Thanks again.

Guys I just searched up and down and can't find the answer to this:
how can I create an apps drawer? I even went to GNEX support page but nada there to find.
Any pointers?
Thanks

Sorry for the question but i could turn out to be a good "tip" if there is a way.

Any way to make the dialer just disappear after a phone call? In stead of having it go to the "recent call" screen?

When i hit end, i want it to go to my home screen (so i don't have to hit back)

Just get Nova Launcher... you won't regret it. I have no idea if there's a way to do it in the stock launcher, but it is a very simple command in Nova. All you do is hold down on the screen until the "Add to Home Screen" menu pops up. Then you select Launcher Actions, then App Drawer. Easy as pie!

I don't hit end. I hit the home button. Simple, one-click way to accomplish what you want. And 99 times out of 100 the phone call is going to still be ended. Sure there may be one time that the other people either forget to hang up or go to answer a call on the other line, but I'm sure you can live with it working "only" 99% of the time...

Greetings everyone ,

Yesterday, I was able to go about 12 hours of light to moderate usage and was at about 40% left. Here is what it took:

-disable google plus.
-Auto brightness.
-Turn off google location and search services, but kept GPS on.
-Disable all backup including google and Verizon.
-turn on cdma only. (4g just kills it and I turn it on when downloading apps and streaming video)
-Turn off nfc.
-Disable twitter sync
-i use Gmail and exchange and both are set to push.
-beautiful Widgets set to refresh every 4 hours.

That's about it. I also let the battery drain all the way a few times, then bump charge in the mornings. I know it sux that u need to do this to get OK battery, but I do love this phone. Actually its ics that I love

folders on the homescreen, like it shows at the bottom.

Oh, I thought you wanted neither of those options. I thought you wanted the icon that lets you open the App Drawer from the homescreen. My bad. Not too sure what you really want, but if it's what I thought originally, Nova is needed. If it's some sort of folder, then I dunno? Folders can be made just by dropping icons on top of each other.

Thanks for this. Gave me a couple ideas that I hadn't tried. My battery isn't horrible, but it's not great either. I can't stand have auto-brightness on, so I'm stuck dealing with any repercussions of a bright screen. I also use twitter too much to disable it, but maybe i'll look into a delayed sync if possible. I'm a little hesitant on turning off 4G, though. I know its another battery drainer, but I love having such a quick phone. I don't really want anything to get in that way of that. And your right, this phone kicks ass, but ICS is what I truly love. Thanks for the post and have a great holiday!

Yep, looks like they beat me to it, but make sure you allow unknown sources like the one guy said, and also set Nova as your default launcher

App Drawer>Settings>Nova Settings>Set Default Home>Nova Launcher

Nova is the same exact thing as the stock launcher minus the widget drawer, but plus the ability to edit and re-size icons/widgets. There are a few other differences, but it's pretty much a more user-friendly version of the stock launcher. Hope this helps.

1.
2. Separating the ringtone from notifications- this took forever for me to figure out (perhaps I was missing something).
- Settings --> sounds--> notification set to silent
- d/l My Profiles and change the notification sounds to what I want for each profile

- This was rather important for me as I'm on call at night frequently and need my phone volume on but don't want to hear emails/texts

Like I said, maybe I was missing something, but I could not separate it any other way

Took me a little bit to remember how to do this, but at least for email/gmail, go into the app, open the menu, settings. Then select the account. There should be an "Notifications Settings" section where you can assign a ringtone (including silent) for that account. Handy for turning off email ringtone notifications but keeping other ringtone notifications in place (e.g. text messages), or setting different notification sounds for different email accounts (work, personal, etc). The same option exists in the Messaging app.

While taking advantage of OTD's tip to keep apps from automatically installing on the desktop, I notice there is a setting in the Market that will force apps to only update over wifi. Might be a very useful thing for folks with limited data.
Also saw that there was an option in the Market to automatically have apps be set to update automatically. Don't remember that before. You can enable it in the Market menu under Settings ("Auto-update apps"). Previously, it annoyed me a little to install an app then go back and check the update automatically box.

Sorry if either of these were mentioned before.
