Do you have a tip/trick for ICS? Post it here.

Can you then please explain why i have 4 cables here, two made by HTC (from my HTC Desire) which have all worked wonderfully with my computer and old phone for the last year, but of which none work with exactly the same computer but with this new phone?

what do you mean "work"?

My old phone and my GNex both can charge from my computer, except that even with the stock cable the GNex loses charge (albeit more slowly) unless the screen is off. It could be that all your cables work fine, but that your GNex is just using a lot more juice than your old phone.

old cable, old phone; computer sees phone as disk.
new cable, new phone; computer sees phone as media device.
old cable, new phone; computer says something is wrong (phone still charges though).

Strange huhh :(

the only thing I can think of, (and put on your tinfoil hat) is Samsung could be doing something on purpose. I.E. varying the resistance or voltage then having the phone check and flash a "error". this seems extremely unlikely though. Although none of the manufactures are happy about moving away from propriety connectors they could change every phone and charge you again (moto was famous for this).

I have a pretty good ohm meter at home maybe I'll when I get off work.

Sounds like you have a damaged pin in the connector your HTC didn't care about or HTC isn't adhering to the MicroUSB standard and is using an unsupported pinout for extra functionality (like video perhaps). It's a standard for a reason, any and all cables branded as MicroUSB should work (provided their jacket lets them fit). I doubt that's the case though and I'm much more likely to think the cable is damaged. I am using the generic Samsung galaxy S style cables I bought for my Fascinate with my GNex daily. I'm also using a generic extendable MicroUSB cable I carry in my pocket, generic Monoprice MicroUSB cords and they all work the same.

Either way, and no matter what, the amount of current/voltage that the CHARGER provides is not a function of the cable itself. That rating you see is for the charger, not the cable.

Is it just me or does all this "instant upload" crap REALLY discourage girls from taking photos of themselves topless?

As if it wasn't bad enough already...Whoops! Accidentally sent a picture of my boobs to everyone I know including my parents and even grandparents.

It seems SO blatantly obvious to me that taking risque pics of yourself is one of the top uses for a cell phone camera, and therefore instant uploading should be very much opt-in. You should have to click like 3 different "are you REALLY sure??" checkboxes before enabling it.

I thought I was the only person who had this line of thinking - thank you for making me feel less alone.
Any app I that can store anything immediately gets checked to see if there are any instant upload options. Even the innocent pics don't need to go anywhere right away. I'll choose who gets what.

The G+ instant upload sets pics to visible only to you by default. You have to go in and share them if you want others to see them.

i think this is a general problem with all the "social" apps these days. I feel like if you use them you pretty much have to be super vigilant about your privacy, checking settings and making sure permissions are right all the time. and even then, they have glitches and things get revealed from time to time. and so many people have problems even from innocent things they post.

Quick access to settings: Another quick way to get into Settings, is to drag down the notifcation, and hit the settings icon, next to the date.

If you're like me, you're constantly going in and out of settings while tailoring your phone to your liking, and this is a very quick method, aside from the task switcher.

Is easy to copy (or cut) n paste with ICS , but I still find no way to copy phone number for incoming call not in my contact list , any one can help ?

I have a couple of lg cables that won't work with the nexus that work with my other phone..but if i just replace the cable in the same charger it charges the nexus, so for some reason certain cables just aren't working with the gnex

It also reduces the image so it looks a super crappy when it is uploaded.

Additionally, the "instant" picture taking reduces the quality too... i've not take a single "instant" pic without it looking like it was taken with a

Turn your stock keyboard auto-correct up to 'aggressive correction'. (Settings > Language & input > Android keyboard settings > Auto correction). People are speculating that it's based on BlindType (Google bought them about a year ago), and it appears I can just blaze through a bunch of key strokes and have almost exactly what I intended come up. Slang, doesn't work out so well (obviously).

Tip: When typing a word into the keyboard, long-press any of the three word selections, and a menu with all possible words will appear, giving you an expanded list of suggestions.

Not sure how useful this is, unless you're not quite sure of a words spelling, but it's there.

prolly been said but you can get rid of google search bar.

Settings - apps - all - google search bar - disable

Yeah you can...but the free space on your screen is usable for.......nothing .

I wait for a possibility to replace the google search bar space
with whatever I want. Only the upcoming "delete app"
in the middle should need to be there.

You can use Nova Launcher to be able to use that space.

If you flash a deodexed ROM, even one that is basically stock (there is one I use on rootzwiki that is basically stock) there are flashable mods that remove the search bar and free that up to be used for widgits/shortcuts/folders, works great! Also there is the same mod that you can use to get a landscape view! Check out the dev section on rootzwiki for our phone, I think XDA has it too. Assuming it isn't here of course.

Or use NovaLauncher as suggested, but I prefer a modified stock launcher myself.

Amen I know that is the first thing I go and do when getting new roms is disabled g+

Two questions. Light flow colors won't work at all.I'm using the free version. Any ideas? Also I'm trying to add some info to the calendar but when I try it asks me to link a email account to it. So when I attempt to add one it says I already have that email linked to the phone. So I went back into sync and checked calendar thinking it would take care of it but no luck. Any thoughts on this as well. Thanks

Make sure you have the box checked in accessibility in the settings. And the box checked in settings under display to 'pulse notification light' .

I don't know why you are having issues with the calendar.
