pretty crazy but is what it is now. unless you have a 4x4 truck.
Or a Jeep

Actually, it isn't the norm for new cars now. More and more are going to no spare at all and a Tire inflator kit instead.

My DH HATES those miniature spares, and has been known to buy another full-size wheel for the car and have a tire put on it, so he has a full-size spare.
Things I remember ...
- The smell of gas: from gas stations and everyones' garage
- AT&T as a land-line monopoly: you had to rent your telephone
- Dog ears on the TV antenna
- Carburetors in new cars
- A door-to-door salesman trying to sell my parents a 'cassette tape' player
- Saturday morning cartoons
- Not owning a microwave
- Encyclopedias and White-out
edit:
- Learning BASIC at the DOS prompt in high school
- 5 1/4 inch single sided floppies (before you hole-punched)
. Take my word for it, you kids have to suffer greatly these days because the truly cool is long gone and you must settle for whatever is available or whatever manufacturers tell you you want.that was a fun game and back in the day when no electronics all those games were great and fun and even playing outside was great. don't see alot of kids outside these days though.

I will never purchase a new car. Lots of great new cars to be sure, but I am old and therefore, I want old, dag nabbit. So for me, I visit the web and my search for the next car is overwhelming. And there is always room for a spare tire or perhaps a dead body.
I recall a few good cars arrived in 1965-1970 which was the latest I think I'll go. Like the 1969 Plymouth GTX with a 440. Perhaps a few Vettes past 1970 are acceptable. I might go with something older that is cool, fast, gets 5 MPG and can crush all modern cars.
Do people still patch inner tubes these days? I am trying to find a set of solid rubber tires but oddly enough, they seem to be a discontinued item.
I hear you on all that. My wife's vehicle is in 96 mine is an 87. my boats are 2000 jetskis in 96 my motorcycle is 84 and the list goes on. I was born in the 60's and my wife was born in the 50's I'm not really that much of a kid. But I hear ya on all of that and we all survived somehow someway. You may be older than me what it sounds like, I know a lot of people seen more in there lifetime than me but I've been around for a good while to see a good amount
I am perhaps a tad older. I was born November 19, 1955. But do not ask me to subtract 1955 fro 2012 because I really hate the result.
The thing about being somewhere between growing older and old, is the time passes quicker as you pass much quicker. When you are 12, waiting to be 16 to drive, time hardly passes. Then you hit 16 and you want to drink so you want to be 21. that takes forever, too.
You hit 21 and things look bright. You put off realizing your dreams because you think you have plenty of time. Then 30 arrives and you wonder what happened. Then 40 arrives next week and after that, decades pass every year and you wonder what the heck happened to all of that time I knew I had at 16.
It hit me when I ran into an old friend with grandchildren. Grandchildren for God's sake. How did that happen?
Well, at least I have my OEM teeth and hair. I'll require very little touch-up when I am finally prepared and put on display in the coffin. I am thinking I want a 'Roaring Twenties' theme at my wake. Expensive drinks are on me, so come to the wake.
Just wait until they start calling you Sir!
Parents have been rendered scared my the media and so they hide their kids these days. God forbid, they play with a real toy and they end up with a boo boo.

Lol
funny how some fads come and go and others repeat. like bell bottoms in the 60's to 70's and then kinda came back for kids in the early 2000's and they thought the invented it. LOL. just like movies, they can't think of hardly any new ones so they are doing remakes with different actors and new effects, but same old movie, or the change it around instead of comming up with something new.SMH...
