I forked out a tenner for the fancy nancy michael fields screen protector.
I hate putting these things on - such a pain!

I have no idea if it was worth it or whether a cheapo screen protector would have been better. 2 things I am sure about, I can't even tell it's on (you can't feel it) and the colours from the amoled is great even with it on.

Martin Fields one for mine.

Can I ask why you use a screen protector? The Desire glass is not the same as the covering found on most non-smartphones and you don't get scratching and scuffing. The screen protector material is actually far more likely to get scuffed than the screen it's protecting. The only real risk to the screen is damage caused by dropping it, hitting it with something, and putting it in your pocket with a set of keys - all of which would damage the screen whether or not there's a screen protector fitted.

Do you have a link to that info or a video showing tests being carried out? I must admit that the only thing I've read on that subject, and that was a while ago, was about something called 'Gorilla Glass', which the article said was not fitted to the Desire.

Used martin fields from day 1, over the first few days i actually preferred the screen protectors feel compared to the glass. However my friend has just got a desire and his glass feels awesome... might remove soon, only 6 months before upgrade anyway.

Used a Zagg screen protector after always using Martin Fields ones.... it's a little on the expensive side, but it's saved my screen a couple of times when a pen nearly scratched the screen.. any near miss like this means Zagg will replace the protector free, have used this twice to date so starting to get my money's worth....;)

I used one for a while when I first got the phone but took it off after some months when it started to look jaded and have never replaced it.

I use a casemate which I love as the phone feels far more robust and less slippery in my hand with that on.

That being said the last time I dropped it it slipped out of my hand and took a full swan dive onto the road. It's left a small scuff down to the silver on the top casement underneath the power button but other than that no damage at all so the screens must be fairly durable.
